HELP MAKING A DUAL BOOT EDITING RIG!

Hello everybody, as you can tell I am a noob to this forum and a noob to building computers in general. I have done some research but I need help building a budget editing PC.

Budget: $750 CAD (Shipped Preferably, not including the $175 I have spent between the Case and Monitor)

Applications: I will be editing HD AVCHD footage. But I can download Cineforem Neoscene to make it easier on the PC. I will be using Sony Vegas 9, Adobe After Effects CS4, Adobe Photoshop CS4 and Adobe Lightroom.

Things I can reuse: I have an old Dell Dimension 8300 but I think it would make more sense to sell it for money towards the build.

As of now I have the CM 690 II Advanced case and a Samsung Syncmaster 2043NW (I might try to sell it).

I'm looking into how I should base my build so I can run Windows 7 and Snow Leopard. I'n the end it would be way cheaper than having an iMac and a Custom Desktop and I can run applications I couldn't run on just one.

Thanks in advance!

Those seem more about running one OS, but they help with the build non the less.

These are the used prices I was talking about earlier. Its out of my budget so would it be cheaper for me to buy 8GB of my own RAM?

CPU: i7-930: $190

Mobo: Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5: $250

Memory: 6GB G.SKILL Trident Series PC3-16000 DDR3: $199 or 12GB G.SKILL Trident Series PC3-16000 DDR3 for $375

Quote from seller:

Validation as of today.

Validation

as you can see, CPU still OC at nearly 4.1Ghz and memory is running pass their DDR3-2000 mark. These set up come in handy when you process your photo and most of all, when editing video.

If you're buying all 3, i'll will leave all the setting of Overclock at 4.1Ghz with memory running at 840mhz or CPU at 4.0Ghz and memory running at full speed at DDR3-200. All of these setting are stable.

Let me know what you want to buy.

I guess so. I have bought 2G of used DDR2 ram half the price of new one. IMHO it is good way of saving some money if you buy used components that have no mechanical parts (such as CPU, RAM, PCI cards and so on) as long as they are tested and works properly.

Like this or this.

P.S. Sometimes OC can provoke some issues with OS X. I'm not saying it is the case, but be informed.
