Asus z8na-d6 (the easy way)

As I can only post here since im a newb on this forum

Realy sad since I think I know enoug to be not with the newbies im a dutch member of hackintosh.nl (first named muzzle.nl)

Also I am pretty handy build a few pc's and did some casemods.

I wil give you my way to instal on a asus z8na-d6 mobo using a few tools

 

List of hardware needed:

The asus z8na-d6© mobo

A pair of xeon proccesors used in mac pro configs (in my case this will be e5520 xeon's)

A haleluja amount of server ram (in my case 20 gb of hp server memory)

A chameleon compatible videocard 8600gt 8800gtx 9600gt 9800gtx etc etc(not a requirment but highly recommed)

A hardisk running trough the onboard s-ata ports (no freaking sas hdd's)

I used a realtek 8139 pci card for the ethernet but there are ways to make the onboard work.(see peachos guide to asus z8na-d6 guide)

A dvd drive(hehe)(and writable dvd)

The rest of the config coolers,powersuplly,exstension cards(you name it)

 

List of software needed

A legit copy of snow leopard(universal not the ones that came with a mac)

 

A copy of the pystar rebel efi bootloader(just download one since the guy who made it got sued )(if u do it troug torrents dont forget to seed it so it wont die)

 

The newest version of the cameleon bootloader

 

Nvenabler 64.kext bit not needed but its the best kext based graphics thiny out there(Note: cameleon comes with graphicscard support for most nvidea cards)

 

PcgenRTL8139ethernet.kext(preferable version 1.2 Note: only needed for those who use the realtek8139 pci ethernet card)

 

 

The way to instal

 

Step 1:

Start the computer

 

Step 2:

Get into the bios by hitting delete key (located above the arrows)

 

Step3:

At the first tab go to the line that say"ide Configuration' and hit enter

 

Step4:

got to the line that says 'configure sata as' hit enter and change it to ahci

 

Step5:

hit escape to get back to the main menu.

 

Step6:

Click the right arrow button to switch tabs(get to the tab advanced)

 

Step7:

You will be greated by a list of menu's select the one named 'cpu configuration' and hit enter.

 

Step8:

Disable the c-state option

 

Step9:

Hit f10 (to save configuration changes and exit) now hit enter

 

Step10:

Prepare the dvd wich contains rebel efi also prepare a disk drive wich contains the chameleon installer(and the optional files I mentioned earlyer you might wanna ad the kext utility 2 and osx86 tools just to be safe)

 

Step11:

reboot with the rebel efi dvd in the disk drive and hit f8 now select the dvd drive

 

Step12:

A menu will pop up showing you the hdd and the dvd drive select the dvd drive(cdrom icon) and eject the rebel efi dvd Note: dont erase burn or lose the dvd we will need it later on

 

Step13:

Now put in your Snow Leopard dvd and close the drive.

 

Step14:

Hit f5 and wait 5 seconds

 

Step15:

Click the down arrow until custom is lit.

 

Step16:

Hit the spacebar and type '-v cpus=2' (this will note us if we done anything wrong when we continue)

 

Step17:

hit enter you will see a cd-rom and the text ejecting cdrom then a few leters will flash and it starts.

Now wait unless it gives you a sentence like'debuger called 'panic' proccesor0'

After a minute or 2 it will come up with the mac os x instal screen.

 

Step18:

select your native language and go to the tab utility's and select the disk utility erase the disk with mac os x extended journaled and give it a name.

 

Step19:

head over to the instal and select the hdd we just formated click customize and uncheck printer drivers and check roseta and quiktime 7

 

Step20:

Watch the instal and grab yourself a cup of coffee(unless you dont like coffee)

 

Step21:

It will say instal failed/succeeded (it doesn't matter what it says(instal log tells us if it failed because it was unbootable)

 

Step22:

Hit reboot and hit f8 again to get in the boot menu again select the dvd drive again.

 

Step23:

you will be greated by the pystar rebel efi again select the hdd were we instaled and got to verbose mode like we did before with the custom mode and hit enter.

 

Step24:

Gratz your first boot enjoy the intro movie and fill in al the forms Note: there is no sound during the intro

 

Step25:

Plug in your usb/thumb drive and open up the cameleon .pkg file

Once asking for hdd select the one from the steps before and hit customize again.

Select the hfs option (not the standard one or the instal will fail)

Select the disabler iohciblockinjector and the ahci ones and the evreboot also select the thinkpink theme cause its pretty dam awsoem.

after the instal reboot but this time go into the hdd.

 

Step26(pffff step 25 was a big step)

you should now have a fully functional instal at the systemprefrences pane you can get your graphics card working.

 

GL I will add some pictures allong with more info about the rtl8139 and nvenabler kext also I will give a way to get sound using the x-fi titanium soud card

one question for you..... how about sleep? does it work? hibernation ?

If I put it to sleep it wont get out of it but when it go's by itself then it just pops back up when I move the mouse.

Mayby if I add a dsdt file to chameleon that will solve it.

Im currently having some heat problems with my 9800gt (had them before but with a rom flash it was gone for a few months)

Im gonna replace the thermal compound and put some on the sub chips(the ones that are cooled without interface material)

 

I tried [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] 2 mayby I had the wrong version cause there was no way getting it to boot.
