Erasing my drive

Alright, this is my first forum post. ever. so you guys are gonna have to help me out

 

I'm not sure if this is the method I should be installing mac with, but the problem I have is erasing my partition in the Mac OS X installation. I go into disk utility, click the partition i'm going to be using and go over to the erase tab. I click Mac OS Extended (Journaled) for the setting, and click "Erase". Not exactly sure what happens after that, but it doesn't go into Mac OS Extended (Journaled), and it changes the name to disk4os or something like that. It wont let me select that to install, and it makes me sad

 

Please help.

~Sony Vaio VGN-FW480J Laptop

~x64-based PC

~Windows 7 Home Premium (On its own partition)

~6.0gb of RAM

~ATI Radeon HD 4650 (1gb of Video Memory)

~Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.00GHz

You cannot install retail OS X on an MBR formatted drive without first modifying the installation DVD.

 

Google "Install retail OS X to MBR" or words to that effect for more information.

 

Alternatively use a spare hard drive and use Disk Utility to GUID partition and format the drive.

sorry, i forgot to say that this was a patched version; but i fixed it

 

I had the system reserved partition as a logical partition and extended so i formatted that, and everything went back to normal , but now im having the problem with booting. I go to boot up into mac, and it says that I have to restart im gonna try verbose modes and stuff
