jdizzle2010
This message is directed to anyone who think they might be able to help me with my video card issue - I am broke and cannot afford to simply go buy another video card, and I have searched and searched and found that other users are able to install this card successfully but I have yet to get it working myself. Any help is appreciated. I can get the OSX to boot up without a problem, but my issue is that it does not recognize my video card - I have followed numerous guides and downloaded custom kext's that have my device ID in them and installed them with kext helper, but all I get in response is an immediate KP. My setup is as follows (distro being used is iAtkos S3 V2, but I have same results with Hazard's 10.6.2 release): Mobo: Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 Processor: Intel Pentium 4 3.40Ghz GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD 4650 512MB 2GB RAM 80GB HDD & DVD-ROM: Both SATA I am probably still considered a noob in the field but I am familiar with manually installing kext's using the terminal. I feel like I'm missing something!! Here is in detail how I have attempted to get OSX to recognize my video card: 1) Install OSX (and boot up into it) 2) Download ATIRadeonHD4650_OSX1063.zip from http://www.4shared.com/file/OBxeB55r/ATIRa...50_OSX1063.html 3) Download Kexthelper, drag and drop the 4 Kext's into Kexthelper's window, enter admin PW and click safe install - that is when I get the immediate KP. Am I missing something here?? I have tried qoopz 10.3.0 kernel and boot loaders when re-installing but the results are all the same. The bootloaders I tried were AsereBLN & Chameleon RC4. I enable 32-bit boot. I have tried with and without Graphics Enabler. Everything else works perfect, sound, internet, etc I just cannot for the life of me get OSX to recognize my 4650 or get past the KP after using Kexthelper, can you think of anything that would help me out? Can you possibly tell me the distro you used, and the exact setup options you chose and method of installing the kext's to have success?
