Hi, I am a novice with OS X and have limited unix experience.

I'm trying to install iDeneb v1.4 10.5.6 on a Fujitsu V5155 laptop. I have tried v1.6 but that version just hung at the "calculating remaining time for install".

Hardware:-

CPU dual core celeron M 1866Mhz

Memory 1792 MB

Graphics SiS mirage 3 SiS672 chipset

HDD WDC1200BEVS-22USTO (SATA)

Did run hardware utility from V1.6 and got this :-

1039:0003 SiS SiS AGP port (virtual PCI-PCI Bridge)

1039:6351 SiS 771/671 PCIE VGA DISPLAY ADAPTOR

1039:5513 SiS 5513 (IDE)

1039:1183 SiS SATA CONTROLLER /IDE MODE

1039:0968 SiS SiS 968 (MULTIOL MULTI IO)

1039:7001 SiS SiS 7001 USB 1 CONTROLLER

1039:7001 SiS SiS 7001 USB 1 CONTROLLER

1039:7002 SiS SiS 7002 USB 2 CONTROLLER

1039:000a SiS SiS PCI-PCI Bridge

1039:0191 SiS SiS 191 GIGABIT ETHERNET ADAPTOR

1039:0003 SiS SiS AZALIA AUDIO ADAPTOR

1039:7502 SiS SiS AGP port (virtual PCI-PCI Bridge

1039:0004 SiS SiS PCI-PCI Bridge

1039:000a SiS SiS PCI-PCI Bridge

168c:001c Atheros ATHEROS COMMUNICATIONS AR242X 802.11 WIRELESS ADAPTOR

1039:0671 SiS SiS 671MX

I understand that the first 4 digits are the vendor code and the second 4 are the device code.

OK the problems:-

Boot with -v and get loads of stuff main things seem to be

"com.apple.driver.AppleACPIPlatform" has dependencies on both com.apple.kernel and com.apple.kpi

in yellow "Failed to load extension com.apple.driver.AppleACPIPCI"

Then eventually I get "Still waiting for root device"

I have tried with -x -f and single user -s

I susspect that this is because it is not "finding" the SATA drive (how does it do this at install but not at boot ??)

BTW this is a triple boot machine with Windows XP, Puppy Linux and OS X (hopefully)

I did read a post suggesting tools to make the HFS partition visible under windows but cant find this anymore.

Any help much appreciated.

UPDATE:

Some progress made. I have a USB hard drive which I have partitioned as 2 HFS+ partitions.

This is sdb sdb1,0 has 10.4.8 from JAS sdb1,1 has 10.5.6 from iDeneb

Using Grub Bootloader I can boot 10.4.8 if I try and boot 10.5.6 I get Boot: error checked config and cant see why.

On 10.4.8 both the HFS+ partitions are shown as USB drives on the desktop.

The SATA HDD on the laptop is not shown.

Using system profiler i get this info :-

No built in Audio

Display PCI Vram 256MB No kext loaded Resolution 1024x768 32bit

No serial ATA

I think I need to load the Azalia sound kext - will try this later.

Biggest problem seems to be the SATA drive. ANY BODY ANY IDEAS
