burns154
When I install Voodoo HDA it causes a Kernel Panic telling me to "hold down the power button until it shuts down". How do I remove it when I am in the installer? I really do not want to reinstall Snow Leopard again. GA-G41M-ES2L rev 1.4 Core 2 Duo E7500 Thanks. oldnapalm
Take a look at this topic http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=233183 VoodooHDA may work if you remove AppleHDA.
burns154
How would I remove one of them from the installer? Would VoodooHDA work for ALC888b or ALC887? Thanks for the reply.
oldnapalm
Look the link in my previous post, you'll find how to remove from the installer. Yes, I believe it works with this codec.
burns154
Should I use the first code or the second?
burns154
Alright I removed it, then I removed applehda. I reinstall voodoohda and it does the same thing. What is wrong?
oldnapalm
Which version are you using? Do you use dsdt.aml or BIOS mod?
burns154
I am running a GA-G41M-ES2L Rev 1.4 Core 2 Duo E7500 Mac 10.6.4 I have tried VoodooHDA 2.7.1 and 2.7.2 I followed this guide to install on my motherboard with the USB method. http://www.ridgel1ne.com/OSX86/Tutorials.html I then ran the Ridgel1ne post installer and I have the E7500 DSDT, I also am running Chameleon, whichever is in the MyHack 1.1 Installer. Do you know how I could get my sound to work?
oldnapalm
That guide says to use 10.6.2 AppleHDA, so the DSDT probably contains the patch and you should have a legacyHDA kext in Extra/Extensions, you don't need VoodooHDA. If you want to use VoodooHDA, remove the DSDT patch and legacy kext.
burns154
Well, the AppleHDA never worked. In system profiler it said that I had High Definition Audio, but when I go to my system preferences I have no output devices. So I don't know why it doesn't work. Does it have to be a special LegacyHDA or does any work, because I don't have one?
oldnapalm
Must be a legacyHDA specific for your codec. There must be one available where you downloaded the DSDT file. You're using a DSDT file, aren't you?
burns154
Only the one that came with the Ridgel1ne Post installer. It is a C2D E7500, also under his downloads section at ridgel1ne.com. But there was no LegacyHDA.
oldnapalm
I downloaded the "Ridgeline’s installer" and it's there... Legacy888bHDA.kext
burns154
I don't know why it doesn't work. Do you?
oldnapalm
Did you install it?
burns154
Yes I did install it. Ridgel1ne post installer 2.3. Is that what you downloaded because I couldn't see it in there?
oldnapalm
I downloaded from the link you provided, where it says "I like Tonymacx86's guide. It's clear, well written, and has nice screenshots. Just replace ##### with EmpireEFI, and replace ##### with Ridgeline’s installer". I didn't install it, but opened the pkg with Pacifist and there is a Legacy888bHDA.kext.
burns154
Do you have any idea why it isn't working then?
oldnapalm
Sorry, no idea. If you have a dsdt.aml with patched HDEF, 10.6.2 AppleHDA.kext and Legacy888bHDA.kext, it should be working.
burns154
How do I edit my DSDT.aml to know if it is patched with the HDEF?
oldnapalm
An easy way is using this editor http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=223205
burns154
I added the HDEF patch and it gives me this in the System Profiler. It actually did before. burns154
When I first start up the Speaker icon in the task bar is black for a second, but then turns grey. If this helps at all.
burns154
I still can't get it to work. What do you recommend for a USB adapter? I prefer to buy at an actual store like MicroCenter, which would be the Minneapolis store.
