So I've been hackintoshing this Thinkpad T60 2008-n11 that I got from Tiger direct. It's gone quite smoothly. I had to add the appropriate device ID to a couple of kexts to get my Ati Mobility Radeon x1300 to work. The only remaining catch was the internal Intel 3000 series wifi card which wasn't going to work due to a lack of drivers. I found an athertos mini pci wifi card on ebay and swapped them out. It works after adding the device ID to the appleatheros.kext info.plist.

It's recognized as an airport, and I'm connected on it now (WPA encryption). The signal meter appears in the right upper corner of the screen, but for some reason it shows no bars. Any thoughts?

....and any idea why the system profiler would give this read out

Wireless Card Type: AirPort Extreme (0x168C, 0x58A)

Wireless Card Locale: Unknown

Wireless Card Firmware Version: 1.4.10.3

Current Wireless Network: AirPort is currently turned off

While I'm actually connected and surfing?

Alright,

So how did I mess this up (Well, other than trying to upgrade)?

I decided to try out Snow Leopard. Went ahead and used the myhack installer with a 10.6.3 DVD. Install went fine, upgrade to 10.5.6 went fine. However, try as I might I cannot seem to get the new OS to recognize my previously working Athertos WIFI. Tried editing System>Library>Extensions>IO80211Family.kext>Contents>PlugIns>AirPortAtheros.kext>Contents>Info.plist with the correct device ID, but it's as if there's no wifi installed.

Any recommendations?

So this is getting stranger and stranger. I finally got it to recognize my airport card; it will connect to my wireless router and the internet just fine if it's in "OPEN" or "WEP" mode; but all WPA or WPA2 mode settings will result it in connecting to the router and self-assigning an IP address with no internet connectivity. WPA and WPA2 worked fine in Leopard, but for some reason this is being odd.

Any suggestions?
