Hey guys. WIth successfull installations on both my ntoebook and desktop, I was thinking of attempting to put OSX86 on my carputer which consists of the following:

7" Touchscreen Liliput TFT LCD

1.7Ghz P4

EPIA mini-itx Motherboard http://ituner.stores.yahoo.net/viaepiap4itx.html

512mb PC3200 RAM

120GB Maxtor HD

Linksys wifi pci card

USB GPS Reciever

150w OPUS DC-DC Power Supply

I believe my cpu, is SSE2 compatible, but getting my motherboard to work wight be a problem. If this works, I might be the first and only one to have a OSX86 as a carputer.

I doubt my USB GPS receiver will work though...

What is your CPU,

If it is a centrino, then it shoudl work fine, but if it is a P4 M, it also will work as Black Flame said, but emu will take all of your ressources.

However, using it as a carputer, it won't make a such difference.

A P4M and Centrino are the same thing, Centrino's just a package of CPU+GPU+WLAN, I think. :)

He has a P4 1.7, (which) as I said, has SSE2 and can install OSx86 on it. It will, however, be as slow as a dog :poster_oops:

Of course,

but what i meant is the chipset difference :)

The Pentium M and the Centrino Platform use the identical processor, with different chipset combinations depending the on which you have.

The Pentium IV-M (mobile) is just a desktop version of the Pentium IV that uses less power and has Speedstep, but it is a COMPLETELY different chip from the Pentium M...... Just so that there was no confusion :D

Any of the above will work for OSX86, but as you mentioned, your biggest problem will probably be the motherboard compatibility

yea, not many macs are touchscreen.... lol. Maybe the new true video ipod will. IF IT EVER EFFING COMES OUT.

However, if the motherboard/display designers were smart, they probably used a standard for the touchscreen part, which apple probably has a driver for. Worth a shot, if you ask me.
