I have a MSI MS-7380 board, and for the life of me, no matter what I do, I run into various issues when installing any OSX version. Ive made hackintoshes before, but cant get this one breathing.

I would love if anyone can tell me how they got theirs going. i see it listed as working on the osx86 wiki page, with this board.

When ive looked at the reccomended BIOS settings, I don't see all the options in my BIOS that are in that list...

I have a 10.6.3 retail disk, and the chameleon bootloader disk. Right now, the moment the apple splashscreen comes up from the install disk I get this

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

is that a big noone?

The OS X Retail Install DVD expects to see your target OS X HDD volume partitioned/formatted as GPT (GUID) / Mac OS Extended (Journaled)...........is this what you have and have you set up your BIOS with AHCI mode.....?

I dont even get a chance to get to the installer. I get the screen i posted the instant that I start to boot from the snow leopard DVD, so I dont have the opportunity to wipe my drive. You are also helping me with 10.5 on the same machine in another thread..I'd prefer to get snow leopard running, but ill settle for anything 10.5 or above.

Ill take some pictures of my BIOS options and see what you can reccomend.

thanks!!

Here are some pictures of my current BIOS and settings..thanks!

DVDRW IDE Primary Master

SATA HDD SATA 1

Execute Bit Support Enabled

HPET Enabled

OnboardLAN Enabled if needed

IEEE 1394 Disbaled if not needed

ACPI Standby State S1 & S3 or S3

using my chameleon boot disk, then retail Snow Leopard disk, i still get the same panic that I put the picture of in the first picture. I changed my settings and such to what you said.

You may need to try with a different AppleACPIPLatform.kext and IOPCIFamily.kext on your Boot CD /Extra/Extensions/ directory and Extensions.mkext etc.......

how would i go about doing that?

What happens when you boot the Kalyway, iAtkos, and iDeneb distros you have with

-v cpus=1 maxmem=2048 platform=ACPI|86PC

...... note maxmem=2048 is not needed if you have < 3GB RAM.......?

Here is a modded DSDT.aml file for you to try in /Extra/.........MSI_P7N_nForce_750i_SLI_Platinum_DSDT_.zip

at first when i used your boot recommendation, i got the same error, so i added the and -f and -x flags to it, as theyve helped me in the past. I got a pretty good way into loading from the Snow Leopard 10.6.3 retail DVD (a minute and a half or so) before I got the message in the attached picture.

Ill have to play around with the various distros again now that ive got these BIOS settings in place..and now that ive finally figured out how to type the flags in this chameleon bootloader (you just start typing...who knew?! its been f8 for everything else..) I can probably get one of them to load..

ill let you know what happens with them..if you have any more ideas for the snow leopard disk, keep em coming! i cant load that patched DSDT till Ive got OSX up and running right?

and i get this if i take off the -f flag

I tried the same boot method that you recommended for iAtkos and got almost the same error as the image on the left from the previous post. Used the following flags

-v -f -x cpus=1 maxmem=2048 platform=ACPI|86PC

I tried it just with the -v -f -x flags also and got a different panic..one i had seen before, but only since making these BIOS changes..ill try iDeneb now

other DVD's wouldnt load the installer..they get like that sometimes...after trying a bunch of install disks, its like i have to let the machine sit a day or two before it wants to try again..hah

Of the distros you have I would focus on getting Leopard working using Kalyway 10.5.2 (Leopard is needed for parts of SL Retail Installation), as you have the option of booting the Install DVD wiith different kernels to see which works best.....

All you have to do is just press F8 at Darwin's prompt and then type the kernel's name you want to boot with :

sleepkernel (intel/amd/sse2/sse3)

speedstepkernel (intel/amd/sse2/sse3)

nforcekernel (intel/sse3)

modbinkernel (intel/amd/sse3)

vanillakernel (intel/sse3)

kabylkernel (intel/sse3) with sleep support

it appears my kalyway disk is trashed, so im re downloading and burning.

It may help to see here........ :thumbsup_anim:

ahh thanks, ill have to look.

i re downloaded and burned kalyway, but after probablt 10 min of loading the DVD, i get to the first GUI screen where the beachball is spinning, and then the computer shuts itself down..doesnt seem to matter what flags i use, this always happens..
