outlaw69uk
Hi All, may be my first post, but, I have become pretty good at this osx86 thing so, not a total newb! (I hope haha) For some time, I have been fine getting Leo setup, and, updated to 10.5.8, vanilla install with boot132. Using the old windows 7 as well on another partition. Where I am now, is, I use the PC to run protools 8, and, I seem to have to reformat and reinstall a few times, so, to avoid this on both OS's, I have done a clean install of Win7 x64 on one HDD, and, leopard on the other, and, set the leopard drive as the primary boot device. All good. I want to use some form of darwin/chameleon because, at one point, it gave me a list, and, I could see (and boot into) windows from that, or, if I left it, Leo would boot. I do, however, seem to be having some issues now, as, I have done this, but, the chameleon wont show a list of drives, or even the "press any button" to go into the select menu, just boots straight into Leo? The preference pane is showing in system preferences, but, has a question mark over it, and, doesnt work. Which version of the bootloader should I be using? That will allow this all to work? I think I tried v4, or RC4 or similar? Machine is Intel quad Q6600 Asus P5Q-EM Nvidia Geeforce 8800 GTS alphadog the alc1200 sound is a pain, but, I use an Mbox2 via USB so, not an issue, or, can run voodoo hda if i need/want. This machine did run Leo fine (still does) and, had snow leopard running fine but, lately, cant get that to install properly or boot (wondering if its my boot132 disc that isnt compatible with 10.6? another question, sorry guys) Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/233797-dual-booting-different-hdd/ Share on other sites
3.14r2
...but, the chameleon wont show a list of drives, or even the "press any button" to go into the select menu, just boots straight into Leo?Check what flags/boot options are added to apple.com.Boot.plist. There might be a chance that you should remove some flag/boot option. Refer to Chameleon's documentation for more info on boot flags.Which version of the bootloader should I be using? That will allow this all to work? I think I tried v4, or RC4 or similar?Try different versions (AnVAL, AsereBLN, Chameleon-2.0-RC4 or it's RC5 based version) and decide yourself which one works better or provides more benefits (better memory/CPU detection, GPU support etc.)....wondering if its my boot132 disc that isnt compatible with 10.6? another question, sorry guysOriginal Boot132 CD was not intended for Snow Leopard and will not work with it. You should use a Snow Leopard oriented boot disks. outlaw69uk
Thank you 3.14r2, much appreciated mate I will have a look when I get home this evening. I did wonder if that would be the case with the boot 132 disc. From memory, I used a patched Snow Leo when I had it on, so, didnt need that.
