MrStevee
Finally after a whole year of different distro's and such a long time failing to get Leopard to boot i have finally achieved what i set out to do.. I have got it to run just as good old Apple intended.. oh wait they never intended for it too run on Amd 64x2 AHA! With thanks to other guides i have pieced together other peoples guides.. to get mine to run. For everyone with Acer Laptops i will give you a helping hand (happy to help anyone who needs it) Right to start off with i got myself a second hard drive and fitted it into my laptop, i will refer to this as rdisk1. I booted into Windows 7 and partitioned my hard drive in half, so my 80gig hard drive became 2 x 40g partitioned named Tiger and Leopard. I started by installing Tiger to the first partition, i will assume everyone know how to install Tiger so i will move on.. also another trick i learnt after 5 months was a way to trick your disk into booting.. everyone just waits for the disk to load and presses F8 straight away do not do this! you will end up with an error, so anyone recieving and error give this a go.. i thought oh wait the disk ain't loading there is a problem with my disk, or the distro wasn't compatible.. aha! i was so wrong. Insert the disk and start up the pc, straight away push F8 or F12 (whatever you use normally to select the drive you want to boot from Then select DVD/CD Drive, now wait for it too count down!! Important!! Now once the main bootloader shows type in -v then press enter, you shouldn't now recieve any errors.. it should load. Now Select utilities and go to disk utility... you should know what to do here people! The version i used of tiger was Jas 10.4.6.install.dvd very very good for AMD! I selected the drive i wanted to install too, (tiger rdisk1s1) and selected the AMD patch and sse2 patch.. IMPORTANT! Without these the installation will fail trust me i've tried over 60 times! once installed reboot if you can't boot into Tiger then boot into the install DVD and go to Terminal... Type in fdisk -e /dev/rdisk1 f 1 w quit then reboot your pc try again to boot, if you get endless reboots or errors this is normal, i found typing in -v cpus=1 works like a charm everytime now once you have tiger installed play around for a bit, okay now comes the next stage installing Leopard to the second partition.. Install BSD on Windows and add a new mac just click add do not change anything.. reboot i used Mac_OS_X_Leopard_10.5.1_for_AMD_SSE2_SSE3_(32bits) this is the best for the Acer... just burn the way you normally do i use "Active@ Iso Burner" Reboot with disk in the drive.. Do the same as before to boot the disk without errors.. install to the other disk.. do not add anything to the install just keep the main files installing. When booting up do the same again go to disk open up Terminal Type in fdisk -e /dev/rdisk1 f 2 w quit reboot.. First big problem was the fact the build in keyboard and mouse wasn't working.. ask me if you need help with this!!! Now the only way i can boot into my Leopard is with... -v cpus=1 -x should now boot.. also while going through the beginning where you have to put details of yourself i got into an endless cycle where it loads up.. i found to get around where it says do you own a mac, instead of saying no which puts you into the cycle.. click yes and transfer from a mac on the same disk... hence the tiger install now it will boot into and there you have it A WORKING INSTALL OF LEOPARD ON ACER ASPIRE 7520 If anyone needs help or a more detailed guide then put a message on this and i will try my best to give you a helping hand
