Here's my configuration:

mobo: ASRock x58 Extreme

cpu: Intel i7 920 @ 2.67GHz

gpu: Radeon HD 5970

RAM: 4gb DDR3

Can't really think of anything else relevant to the install. I've tried #####-supported and #####-ATI, as well as Iatkos S3 V2.

Basically the problem is that before I even get to the installer I get a black screen and all my fans go on full power. With Iatkos it just restarts the computer. I've tried using -x and -v; safe mode did not solve the problem and I did not see anything out of the ordinary with -v because, as I said, the problem happens really before I even try to boot up the installer.

I know the mobo/cpu isn't a problem because I helped my friend set up a computer with almost exactly the same specs just two days ago, but they were using a different GPU (nVidia). Telling me what flags to try, what distro to use, or even what to modify before I burn the DVD would be a great help.

Thanks.
