TheDJjams2
I have an Acer Aspire 5000 series with Turion processor 1GB ram 100 GB hard drive I have had problems getting OSX86 to install and can't get it to work. I finally am asking for help, and hope someone has the answer. I was using the 10.4.5 patched install DVD, which wouldn't boot. I always had the "Still waiting for root device." I did find a way to install it using VMWare. It would boot, and then I would partion the drive with OS X like many tutorials have said to do. Then it would install. After it installed, it would reboot, and then VMWare would have a, couldn't find OS. I can't get VMWare to boot OS X after it is installed. Either it wouldn't find the System, or it would say "Still waiting for root device." Next I tried to boot into OS X nativley by using the partitioned drive which had the new install of OS X from VMWare, but it wouldn't boot that way either. I don't know what I am doing wrong. I have looked at numerious tutorials, but none of them have helped me. I am just looking for someone with the same laptop as mine who has had a successful install, to let me know how they got it to work. I am going to get the OS X 10.4.6 patched DVD to see if that one will work, but I have my doubt.s Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/23151-help-installing-on-aspire-5000-series/ Share on other sites
Rammjet
When you were installing the 10.4.6, right before you clicked the "Install" button, did you first click on the "Customize" button and select packages to install? If so, what packages? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/23151-help-installing-on-aspire-5000-series/#findComment-153431 Share on other sites
TheDJjams2
Well, right now I only have the 10.4.5 install dvd. I had the Maxuss AMD patch, and TMP hack Patch, and then the normal Mac os X stuff, without all the printers though and not all the languages. I been looking at many posts, and seems like I need 10.4.6 since it has that JAS PPF 1 patch, perhaps its the ATI problem, but not sure. The 10.4.6 JaS install DVD and the PPF1 patch are separate downloads. You then apply the patch to the 10.4.6 iso to get a patched iso. TheDJjams2
Ok, I currently don't have access to download 10.4.6 install dvd. I am going to start all over. I tried to boot up from the 10.4.4 install DVD I have, and got this in verbose mode. using 2455 buffer headers and 2455 cluster IO buffer headers IOAPIC: Version 0x11 Vectors 0:23 ACPI: System State [s0 S3 S4 S5] (S3) Extension "com.apple.driver .AppleACPIThermal" has no kernel dependency. TheDJjams2
Next I installed VMWare, and tried to boot with the 10.4.4 DVD. Again, with errors. Here is what I got. I also have a 10.4.5 install DVD, which, after I find, I will try the install process again, and post what I get, but that might be a couple weeks from now. Unless I can get access to download 10.4.6.
