Hello!

As written in the title, i'm looking for a SMC network card driver.

I also have a D-Link one, so if no SMC drivers exists, maybe if you could give me a D-Link one, it would be appreciated.

Thanks,

To stand a chance of getting the correct drivers, you need to state what chipset the SMC and D-Link network cards are each using..........

On the back of the SMC card, it's written: SMC1208T

I believe it has a Realtek RTL8029 chipset, found on older style PCI network cards and has limited Operating System support..........so do not know any OS X driver.......

What is your D-Link card.........?

DFE-538TX Rev. D2

The DFE-538TX Rev. D2 uses the so-called DL10038C chipset but AFAIK it is a "re-badged"

Realtek RTL8139 chipset based NIC, so see here..........

It worked. Then the card dropped (connection). And then I rebooted to reactivate it, but, the card no more allow (or the router) a locale IP address that makes me unable to use the Internet, even locale. When I allow an IP address manually it doesn't work either. What's wrong? It worked, then it no more work... Strange, isn't it?

repaired permissions and it worked again... I'll try to see how and why it always drop... I'll get more information and I'll come back with informations to you.

Thanks for all the help provided, verdant.

Finally, the connection still drops, so it isn't an hardware problem, but a software problem! It happens even on real Macs as I read on other forums... Type dropping connection mac on Google. You'll see. Maybe they explain it better than me :star_sunglasses:

It is a NIC chipset / OS X issue..........see here..........that is why I have no problems with my Netgear GA311 Gigabit NIC since it uses the Realtek RTL8169 chipset.......... :D

Okay does this mean that it never will be working okay if I don't buy a new card, or is it a solution? Because it's way too long and in the category RTL...39... it doesn't give me a "Solution"... But if this is a problem with this card, why does the nForce one do the same thing?

Your internet connection is dependent upon the modem/router/Ethernet(LAN) chipset interaction, whether the chipset is on your MOBO or on a PCI NIC.........

The nForce LAN chipset (e.g. Marvell PHY 88E1116) is not natively supported by OS X and Leopard has problems with RTL8139........not fully compatible with Leopard......thus even Sonnet Technology use RTL8169 for Gigabit Ethernet on Leopard.......but if you want to try find a solution to RTL8139, then see this thread.......otherwise, get a RTL8169 chipset NIC.........
