Greetings.

I am a newbie, so please forgive my ignorance.

I plan to build a rig for a Hackintosh-cum-PC [boot 132 method -- Snow Leopard] using the Intel i7 870 or 875K processor.

The machine would be used primarily for low to medium graphics work (CS4), video editing / encoding, compositing (Shake) and moderate to heavy programming (building apps from source).

I'll be setting up a dual boot with Win 7 HP.

Here are the tentative specs:

> CPU: i7 870 / 875K @ 2.93 GHz

> GFX Card: Radeon 4870 1GB soft-modded to FirePro v8700 (at-least on Windows)

> RAM: 4GB / 8GB @ 1066 MHz (brand ??)

> Mobo (P55): ??

I would like USB 3.0 and FireWire.

My priorities are:

1. Compatibility with OSX

2. Cost-effectiveness - My budget for the Mobo is ~$250.

3. Performance & Features

I would like as little hacking as possible, as much out-of-the-box functionality as possible and atleast 3 PCIe slots on the mobo. I was hoping for an Intel mobo as they are more easily available where I live - India.

Please rank your recommendations - for example:

1. Asus [mobo]

2. Gigabyte [mobo]

3. Intel [mobo]

Many thanks.
