The very famous problem. I've tried so many things to fix it. Let's go over a list.

  • Tried all chipsets, all at once, and separate.
  • With, and without, AMD Fix (I have an AMD Turion)
  • MBR, and GUID
  • Kexts, of all kinds. I know this is very general, but I've tried lots.
  • Nearly every option available on the DVD.
  • rd=disk* (it's disk 0s2 but I've tried others as well)
  • platform=X86PC
  • -v -x -f -s all jumbled in every possible way
  • mach_kernel platform=X86PC -v -f -x rd=disk0s2 "Graphics Mode"="1280x800x32"

So as you see, I've done a lot. And don't start with the BIOS Setup, since I pretty much can't change anything important besides boot order. Anything, so don't mention it. I've also disabled and enabled FireWire kexts.
