Everything works but sound doesn't - ALC883

Hi,

I have installed mac os using the retail DVD(snowleopard_10a4_32_userdvd.dmg), everything is installed nicely but there is one small problem. THere is no sound.

 

My MotherBoard is Gigabyte g31-ES2L. the audio codec is ALC883. here is a full lspci output:-

I searched found multiple options suggesting LegacyALC883.kext, Voodo, something metioned about DSDT. I was following this guide but got confused at the generating own DSDT part.

 

Can anyone help how to get sound working on my hardware?

I have the same problem. I've tried to use the Voodoo HDA and AppleHDA kexts, and it sorta half worked. My devices can now be seen in the user devices menu, but still no sound will play.

 

Anyone know a solution?
