Hello. I have a Compaq Presario C70EP notebook with an Atheros AR242x, and recently I installed Mac OS X on it. I installed iDeneb 1.6 lite version, and when I go to "About this mac" the version is 10.5.8 (Leopard if I'm not wrong).

I had no sound, no WiFi, no touchpad and no laptop keyboard working. I fixed sound with these:

- Apple HDA ALC 272.pkg

- AzaliaAudio.pkg

I can live without touchpad and the laptop keyboard, but I need Wifi. I googled and I found an Atheros kext. I downloaded it, and it comes with kexthelper, the kext, and the folder headers. When I ran kexthelper, I realized I needed root account. So I enabled it, and tested it's password by typing su on the terminal, and it worked.

So, I copied the headers folder into the frameworks folder, opened kextutility, dragged the kext into there, typed my root password, and clicked Easy Install. "Failed to login you as root". I clicked Advanced Options, and I saw that it inserted my password as a command, and, of course, it failed.

So, I saw the script that was going to be used, and installed the kext manually by the terminal. Deleted Extensions.mkext and repaired the disk's permissions.

Rebooted. Everything I saw was a blue blank screen. It was stopped there. I googled a little, and so I went into safe mode (-x option at startup) and so I could see my login screen. Logged in and restored the kext (I made a backup). Deleted Extensions.mkext, repaired permissions, rebooted, I no more blue screen.

But no WiFi. So I downloaded the Airport Extreme Update, extracted the .pkg, and did the same thing with the same kext that was in there. This time, no blue screen. Instead, it said that the kext failed installing, and now everytime I boot up it gives me that warning, that the kext will not be usable.

I restored the backup kext, deleted Extensions.mkext and repaired permissions, but still the same warning everytime I boot.

The kext is named IO80211Family.kext. How do I get my WiFi working? Really need some help please...

Thanks,

P.S. I also installed Atheros.pkg and KisMac, and nothing changed.

And I might had miss something, I did so many stuff that's impossible to remeber everything. So, if something was not clear, please say.

P.S. 2: I've read on other posts that people were having trouble with related WiFi Cards, but that they had the AirPort option. I haven't. It's like I don't have a wireless card, it just doesn't recognize it. What can I do? I really need WiFi... Thanks.

What can I do more to get WiFi? Really don't know what kexts to install... I don't connect to internet via wireless, but I need it to use my iPod Touch as a touchpad, remote controll, keyboard... It's cool. x)

I forgot to say that I don't have my webcam working too. It turns on the blue light, but I just get a black screen. I tried a numerous programs, and in all happens the same.

P.S. My audio and mic jacks don't work too. If you can help me out with that too, I'll be grateful. ^_^

I mean, I'd like to get all working, but now, the most important thing is Wireless/WiFi. Can you help me, please?

Thanks.
