tonyGriggs
Hi, all. Here's the system spec I'm considering after going through 4 defective 27" iMacs (all {censored} screens). Anyone see any issues with this setup? Processor: Intel Core i7-870 Lynfield 2.93GHz CPU Fan: Scythe Mugen Mugen 2 CPU Cooler Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R -OR- GA-X58A-UD5 Power Supply: Corsair CMPSU-650HX 650w RAM: 8GB (OCZ Gold 4GB (4 x 2GB) OCZ3G1600LV4GK) Graphics Card: ASUS Radeon 5850 1GB DVD Drive: Sony Optiarc AD-7240S-0B 24X Case: Coolmaster Cosmos Hard Drives: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB (x 4) SSD Drive: Crucial SSD 64GB Monitor: HP ZR30w 30" There are a few things still in play, such as the case, but otherwise this is pretty close to what I'm planning. We'd be forced to get the additional HP monitor for color work, since the iMac monitor is {censored}, so that's a wash for both systems. I'm a little concerned with the Gigabyte motherboards with all the one-egg DOA reviews at NewEgg. What do you think? Anywhere I'm going to get into trouble? Anywhere I can cut costs or improve performance a the same cost? Are there any problems with the on-board audio for the UD3R? And any suggestions on a good WiFi card for this mobo? Thanks. -- tG Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/227255-i7-960-gigabyte-ga-x58a-ud3r-buildwill-it-work/ Share on other sites
