I tested this solution using Snow Leopard 10.6.4 (no need extra kext or mod existing kexts).

My laptop is HP Pavilion dv6550eg

Here is my webcam:

1. Download and install CamTwist

2. Open CamTwist and select webcam as video source:

3. Open CamTwist preferences and make sure it is look like this:

4. Now open Photo Booth (but it still shows black screen):

5. Go back to CamTwist preferences and tick force camera resolution:

6. By now it should work with Photo Booth.

Cheers.

Thanks! It helps!

EDIT: I found a simpler way. Checking/Unchecking "Force camera resolution" simply "reloads" the camera. If I launch Photobooth first, then only CamTwist, it works. If I launch CamTwist first, then I have to check/uncheck.
