ksuhumpy
Good afternoon - I have been lurking and reading on these forums for a couple of years now and have been doing hackintoshes since the 10.4 days with an old dell laptop. I currently have 2 working lappys, one is a Dell Mini 10v netbook with fully functional 10.6.4. The other is a Compaq C714NR that I have had great success with the iPC 10.5.6 distro. This forum had a great 2 year discussion on this model but after SL came out there really wasn't much of an update. I have tried a couple of distros with the C714NR but really have not had any success. The most recent iATKOS s3 v2. will not complete the install. I get a KP every time. Has anyone gotten snow leopard to work well with this machine? Any hints, tips, tricks? If I were to use the 10.6.2 Hazard disc what kexts or EPI settings have folks had luck with? Thanks. ksuhumpy
I was able to get the iAtkos 10.6.3 DVD to install via USB (not sure why that made a difference over the dvd) however power management, keyboard and few other things are not working. Wireless and Ethernet seem to work out of box. I need to probably delete the power management kexts and see if I can get the ones from my old iPC install working. The fan is not cycling at all right now and the power is tripping off. ksuhumpy
Update #2: Well I had to reinstall a number of times and getting the trackpad to work ended up being a pain, but I believe I have a fully successful installation of 10.6.3. I used the iATKOS S3 V2 install with the following options selected. Bootloader >AsereBLN V1.1.9 Bootloader Options >32 bit boot >Graphics Enabler >Ethernet Patches >/Extra Directory >fakesmc >Disabler >RTC >>RTC >Evo Reboot Drivers >Main Hardware >>Sound >>>Apple HDA >>>Voodoo HDA >>PS2 >>>Voodoo PS2 >>CPU Power Management >>>Voodoo P-state >>Laptop Hardware >>>Battery >>>ACPI Thermal (32 bit) >>NTFS 3g >VGA >>Intel >>>EFI String >>>Natit (32 bit) >>>GMA X3100 The question I have now is that although my trackpad works it is extremely sensitive. I do not care about fancy features like 2 finger scroll or anything like that but I would like to turn down the scroll speed. Any ideas how to do that? I do not seem to have trackpad.pref installed. Jason Quick update. I realized that VoodooPS2 Prefpane was not installed so I did install the prefpane from this post http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/lofiversi...hp/t175372.html. However upon opening the pane I get a Synaptics touchpad not found error message and then the pane crashes. Any ideas? ksuhumpy
Well with a lot of reading I believe I have all issues resolved. Time Machining the install right now. Fully upgraded to 10.6.4 with everything working. I will be creating a guide for this machine. Although it is older it is a dual core with fully working display, power management, etc...Its pretty sweet. Guide to come!
