Hello.

I wrote a previous post a while ago. my specs are:

Mobo: P5N-E SLI.

Graphic Card: GeForce 9400 GT.

Graphics Integrated: Nvidia NForce 650i SLI

CPU: Dual Core E5200 2.50GHz

RAM: 3Gb DDR2

Now I got stuck and thought explain how I have to weigh up to the problem.

I started using my mac mini to restore my Snow Leopard 10.6 DVD onto a USB Thumb Stick. Then I get so burned EmpireEFI 1085 on a blank disc.

Start the installation of Snow Leopard 10.6 from my USB, The installation goes good with no errors. Then when I restart the computer so I start up the new installation and create an account without problems. Now while I'm inside the Snow Leopard, so I also install the Chameleon 2 RC5 pre8.

Now create folders "Extra" and "Extensions". In "also installs KextUtility.v2.3.2 which I use to add Kext files, it is now, I'm not quite one hundred which I use, but I have read a bit and tried with these:

Disabler.kext

Fakesmc.kext

NullCPUPowerManagement.kext

NVinject.kext

OpenHaltRestart.kext

VoodooHDA.kext

I have put them even in "/ extra / extensions /" which creates Chameleon 2 RC5.

So now there are kext files in two places:

"/ Extra / Extensions /" and "/ System / Library / Extensions /".

After this reboot of my computer and boot into Windows 7 to-use and EasyBCD 2.0.1 and create a dual boot entry.

Now when I reboot and try again the boot entry i made with EasyBCD, the Chameleon is booting But with the RC4, and not the Chameleon RC5 pre8 that i installed wheni was in Snow Leopard?

Anyway now the gray background will front for a while in the hadeeth get a symbol That is round with a line in the middle, looks like a stop sign. Is this Kernel Panic?

Now If I reboot again and use my bootCD it is booting up just fine. Need Some help on this one.

See my nForce chipset MOBO Snow Leopard Install Guide here......and my blog for Snow Leopard install guides....... :D

Also, I recommend that you try with Chameleon RC3 + PC_EFI v10.3 as shown in my guide..........

Did not read your guide will do it later. Did some research.

Now iam using all the ATA kext from the Snow Leopard DVD.

I am also using myHack, i have tested Chameleon 2, RC3 and RC5.

Now when i boot verbose i get "Still looking for root device", and here i the LOG for the Boot:

No surprise here..........as my guide explains.......... :(

I did check your guide and did not help me at all.

Want some more help here, i am now on day five.

Clearly you have not read, understood and followed the guide properly :(

If you had, you would now know that:

1. You can only boot with arch=i386 because of AppleNForceATA.kext being 32bit

2. A RTC patched DSDT.aml file in / or in /Extra is preferable to an RTC kext

3. In Extra/Extensions/ you should only need:

AppleNForceATA.kext

FakeSMC.Kext

NullCPUPowerManagement.Kext

OpenHaltRestart.Kext

PlatformUUID (not needed if you are using Chameleon 2.0 RC4 or later)

4. In /System/Library/Extensions

nForceLAN.kext

VoodooHDA.Kext

Instead of VoodooHDA, you can use a Realtek ALC883 LegacyHDA.kext with AppleHDA.kext (10.6.2) plus a DTGP and HDEF patched DSDT.aml file........

5. Sleep does not work on nForce chipset MOBOs using SleepEnabler.kext........

Okey thanks.

Now i have a patched DSDT.aml in /Extra.

In Extra/Extensions/ i have:

AppleNForceATA.kext

FakeSMC.Kext

NullCPUPowerManagement.Kext

OpenHaltRestart.Kext

In /System/Library/Extensions i have:

(i have all the orginal kext there as well, should i delete them?)

nForceLAN.kext

VoodooHDA.Kext

Now i am getting "still waiting for root device".

No, you keep all the Snow Leopard i.e. vanilla kexts in /S/L/E/

As for the "still waiting for root device" error, we need to look at the BIOS settings and HDD/DVDRW setup.........

I presume that you have set your BIOS settings for 650i using the template link give in my SL thread......

So, the best combo is SATA HDD and PATA DVDRW if you want to read and burn disks........

If using a PATA HDD and PATA DVDRW on one IDE channel (via 80-wire IDE cable), then HDD should be Slave and DVDRW should be Master, or both as Master on a IDE channel if you have two.........

What is your actual HDD/DVDRW setup?

Hi.

Did not find your link for BIOS settings for 650i.

Here is a picture of the default setting of my BIOS.

When i am looking for the bios settings in the link you gave above

i ending up with reading thread after thread bacause i dont find the answer.

Hi.

Did not find your link for BIOS settings for 650i.

Here is a picture of the default setting of my BIOS.

post-643304-1279785964_thumb.png

From my SL thread post #1 INTRODUCTION

[1] Check your BIOS settings against the recommended settings for OS X........depending on your MOBO nForce chipset, check in either my OS X Leopard on Series 7 nForce chipset + Intel CPU MOBOs thread or in my OS X Leopard on Pre-Series 7 nForce chipset + Intel CPU MOBOs thread......

From your BIOS you should:

[1] Check if your SATA devices are on the JMicron SATA controller or not..........better to move your SATA devices off the JMicron SATA Controller ports and not use the JMicron SATA Controller SATA ports and disable it in BIOS as it can be problematic......

[2] Set RAID Enabled to [Enabled]

and check your BIOS CPU settings etc. against the Pre-Series 7 nForce template for the 650i chipset......look in my OS X Leopard on Pre-Series 7 nForce chipset + Intel CPU MOBOs thread......post #1 for:

BIOS SETTINGS TEMPLATE FOR 570i, 590i, 610i, 630i, 650i and 680i Ultra NVIDIA nForce Pre-Series 7 MCP chipset based Intel CPU MOBOs

[3] If you want to read/write disks using OS X then get a PATA DVDRW

I have now set JMicron SATA Controller SATA ports as disable and set RAID Enabled to [Enabled].

Then changed the IEEE1394 to auto.

And i still get the same error.

Try with IEEE1394 disabled in BIOS...........if that does not work, can you borrow or get a PATA DVDRW.......?

Try with IEEE1394 disabled in BIOS...........if that does not work, can you borrow or get a PATA DVDRW.......?

I disabled it and just the same error.

I have a SATA DVDRW.

I really dont get why i can boot in to my installed OS X with the CD and not without it, the Chameleon on the CD is older than RC5 that i am using now, have tried the Chameleon thats on the CD to but dont work.

Only working when i am booting from the CD with empireEFI on... I really go crazy on this.

It dosent add up

Is it a new mobo thats the case here.

Now i have done all things possible by the book, why wont it work.

Dont want to bump it but if the mobo is the case i whould like to order a new one as soon as possible =).

Check the following..........can you access your OS X HDD volume directly via the BIOS Boot Menu by pressing F8 or F12 when you see "Press DEL to enter BIOS setup....." and see if you can boot from it...........this will confirm whether the Chameleon bootloader installed on your OS X HDD volume is corrupted or not......

Yes i can access it from the boot menu. And i can boot from it. Its when i boot from the HDD with Chameleon i get "still waiting for root device".

When i boot from my empire cd and choose my mac os x HDD it works fine

Someone who has a solution, I do not understand to be completely honest. Why it is this way.

I have a theory, however.

It is that when I have installed and made the account so instead of restarting it as you should when you installed Chameleon.

I add Kexts directly instead of restarting it after Chameleon install.

Could this have anything to do with it.

Now i have reinstalled mac os x snow leopard. And after installation i installed latest myhack, did not add any kext.

Have set up the bios as well.

I am getting "still waiting for root device".

So what do i do now, any suggestions?
