Biso007
Hi all, I have dual boot setup with Windows 7 and SL 10.6.3 on the same HDD and everything is working flawless. I created a new VM in Win 7 with WS 7 and tried using the OSX physical partion as the VM hard disk. It doesn't boot directly (No operating system found!) so I have to start with ISO image for iAtkos S3 then select the OSX partition at the boot menu. When using -f -v flags, I can see almost all kexts loaded with no major issues, but then it's stuck at "waiting for root device". Any advice ? Edit: using rd=disk0s3 arch=i386 solved the problem .. however, the performance is so bad .. seems there is a huge conflict between the actual HW and the virual HW provided by VMware which requires different kexts group. Also, boot in safe mode with -x starts very fast but many kexts are ignored of course. Would be great if there is a solution for this as it would save a lot of work and disk space too and won't be a need for rebooting the machine to switch to the other OS contents Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/225408-q-mounting-osx-physical-partition-in-vmware/ Share on other sites
Jonher937
You could do as I have done I have w7 on one partiton and OS X on the other. On OS X I run Paralells Desktop (w7 installation) Runs smooth and fast / Jonher937 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/225408-q-mounting-osx-physical-partition-in-vmware/#findComment-1513967 Share on other sites

On OS X I run Paralells Desktop (w7 installation) Runs smooth and fast / Jonher937 thx for the reply but my situation is different. My company work is based on Windows for office and email but I use OSX for my personal purposes. I just tried to run OSX at work w/o disconnecting from the company LAN. So, I tried to mount my OSX partition in VM and run it as a separate machine. I would dream of a boot loader (ex Chameleon V4 ) where you can select the path to another Extensions folder other than S/L/E that has a different mkext file as well. this way you can use your HDD on different devices with different HW specs ... am I too high ?
