scott8933
I did some cursory searching and was surprised not to find anything (or my search terms were off?) Has anyone done any direct comparisons between apps in XP vs OSX? Here was mine, and it leads to a question: Sony Vaio A290 laptop, JaS 10.4.6 OSX install, rendering an Electric Image benchmark scene (EI is a 3-D application) - under XP renderes in 2 minutes. In OSX the same test renderes in 5 min 45 sec. The renderer in EI is a pretty good test of raw processor speed, it isn't doing any graphics or anything else. Strictly number crunching. The fact that it even ran was pretty cool - I didn't expect that. But that speed difference tells me -something- has got to be running under emulation or something is in serious need of tweaking. Is this the kind of performance I should expect, what everyone else is seeing? I wasn't able to test anything else (After Effects was the other app I really wanted to benchmark) before getting sidetracked by needing to fix my XP install and eventually having to wipe the OSX partition. For the record, I installed both the SSE2 and SSE3 options on the JaS disk. I realized later this was a mistake, but don't know if that would have led to such a performance hit. Anyone have any thoughts? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/22497-benchmark-comparisons-between-xp-and-osx/ Share on other sites
thrunner
Cinebench is probably the best cross platform graphics benchmark. Here is a sample comparison: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?s=&...ost&p=68311 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/22497-benchmark-comparisons-between-xp-and-osx/#findComment-149120 Share on other sites
