insanerr
The prices of these processors are reasonably close, I am wondering what would be better for performance and compatibility with osx86. I know that intel processors have generally been much better for compatibility, but there are no cheap quad cores, so i was considering the amd x4 630. What do you think? Or is there another processor I should choose above both of those? The i5 750 is a bit out of my budget i think The reason I am wanting a quad is because I find that chrome can lag on me a bit, however I just had a thought that it might be better sticking with intel and grabbing an SSD. Are SSDs okay with osx86? And will the performance gain still be there? In that case, are there any intel processors that are even cheaper that will work well with osx86? AFAIK, the i3 530 is the cheapest of the newest series, is that right? Would there be an older one worth grabbing that is nice and cheap (think about the combined price with a super-compatible motherboard too) Edit: regarding pricing A good list from a big pc store that applies to me is: (you only need to look at the first page) http://www.msy.com.au/Parts/PARTS.pdf [lol at the painful design, but these guys are easily the biggest diy pc store in victoria (in australia)] Anything that is not on there, search on this website: http://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=item+state:vic&spos=3 (replace item with the model number or whatever, but leave in the state:vic keyword) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/224669-cheap-processors-i3-530-or-amd-x4-630-or-a-cheaper-intelssd-your-input-needed/ Share on other sites
