spincast
I bought the Lifehacker SL hardware from the Adam Pash article everyone knows about, and can not get it to run properly. I have various install issues and some irreproducible errors that pop up. Gigabyte MB GA-EP45-UD3P (rev 1.1, F8) Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 Antec Minitower w/ Plus80 500W PS 4GB (2 x 2GB) Patriot Extreme DDR2 800 EVGA 512-P3-N871-AR GeForce 9800 GTX+ 512MB 256-bit DDR3 PCIe 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support TRENDnet TEG-PCITXR 10/100/1000/ 2000Mbps PCI Pioneer CD/DVD Burner Black SATA Model DVR-218LBK LabelFlash Support I used the "Magic" install kit from the Lifehacker post and it worked fine: disabled onboard LAN, used the PCI LAN above, even running two monitors (one 720p Toshiba TV using DVI into HDMI adapter, one old VGA LCD 1024X768). When I upgraded to 10.6.1 .2 .3 or .4 it would boot to a black screen and that would it. (Could my monitor be so old it doesn't supported default settings in newer OS versions?) The DVD player is unreliable too. Sometimes the button on front opens it, sometimes not, sometimes F12 works, sometimes not. I tried the ##### (supported) + ##### and it worked great except no audio or full video support (onboard LAN works, but not the PCI LAN). Using ##### to install NVenabler gave me Quartz support, but only one of my two monitors worked. Still no audio even with 889a kexts from Lifehacker post. I tried to modify the DSDT.aml using DSDTSE, but when I copy the DTGP lines (http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2009/11/create-and-modify-your-dsdtaml.html) it won't compile. So I can't get video support that way. Then I start from scratch again and go back to the Lifehacker method, and neither of my LAN cards are working! (no matter if I enable/disable the onboard LAN). In the meantime I had installed a switch on my home network (TrendNet TEG-S80G R), but should that be causing problems? I could really use some help here. It seems I can only get half of a hackintosh working, and which half depends on the methods I use. There also seems to be some sort of hysteresis based on the method I used before! Could it be my BIOS rev, could it be the motherboard rev (1.1 instead of 1.0 or 1.6)? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks. spincast
http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=223205 DTGP http://www.mediafire.com/?tzdaztzjmec So I tried it all again before trying to modify the DSDT myself, and it seems to be working using Stella's installer. The problem was actually my monitors. I was using a hp pavilion f1503 (15" 1024x768 VGA monitor) and a Toshiba 19" HDTV by DVI to HDMI and the Hackintosh could not recognize either. I connected the Toshiba via VGA instead of HDMI and it works (and has likely been working the entire time). Don't know why it won't support the other monitor settings. Also, my NIC still won't work at gigabit speeds. Only at 100Mbps. Any ideas?
