surfstu
Further to an earlier thread here, I have rfound that installing OSX can ruin your machine. New machines now write a large part of the BIOS info into a partition on the disk rather than the oldschool rom chip method. Be careful before installing OSX on a newer EFI based machine as you could over write a portion of your bios and make the machine un startable. If your bios is made by Insyde h2o, then you will encounter this problem. I am still trying to work out if there is a recovery method for Insyde h2o bios, like the one that exists for phoenix bios. This will likley invole a few files on a usb pen and a key combination on startup to rewrite the bios, anyone who knows of this method for Insyde h2o bios would be mucho appreciated. I have the .rom file from manufacturer. you have been warned, backup your bios first!! stu Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/223303-update-osx-can-break-your-pc/ Share on other sites
