Atheros AR9285 Wireless Card not functioning

I finally was able to get leopard installed onto my laptop but without sound and wifi, i fixed sound but am still unable to fix wifi.  I have a wifi usb dongle that is currently working surprisingly, But anyways it is a atheros card and i have tried literly everthing is here a driver that i can get somewhere? Any help would be great!

you can try the AtherosFix.kext and follow instructions to edit vendor ID (if your familiar with editing kexts)

If you know how to edit kexts, great, if not here is short summary/guide

 

To edit kexts:

 

1. Copy kext you want to edit to desktop (just need to edit away from original/final location)

2. right click, choose 'Show Package Contents'

3. double click on 'Contents' and usually the file inside the kext you want to edit is 'Info.plist' file

4. Right click, open with TextEditor, make your changes, save and close

5. Now that kext file is edited, and can conveniently be copied back to its final location in Extra/Extensions or System/Library/Extensions (learn the difference and place in optimal location)

6. Clear kext cache, Repair permissions and reboot

 

 

EDIT: SORRY that link i found was for snow leopard 10.6 - not sure it can work in 10.5... do you have a LAN port to connect via ethernet cable? perhaps you just need to give up wifi and do it old school

My ethernet is working but how i know how to edit kexts but how do i repair permishions?

you can download and use kext utility, just run it, and it will do its job by fixing permissions in both S/L/E and E/E folders

or you can use OSX86 Tools by PCWiz but i prefer kext utility

is that the id? ohh and when i installed leopard it came with a kext utility so i will use that and if any one does know how to edit the plist file with the id of oo2b acoording to him can you run through it for me?

If 002b is yours, then it wont work. If you add the ID to Atheros 21 Kext, you get the driver loaded, but Airport Software wont find any Wifi AP.
