Ok so I installed the Jas 10.4.6 dvd and everything is working...sorta. I can boot up with the help of a vga hack(i have hp dv1520us). Ok so it boots...but I do have a few slight problems...

1. My Pentium M cpu is not slowing down....its like at 45% system and 45% user load....i tried the platform=X86PC thing at bootup but that didn't help. I saw CPUthrottler but the ktext you have to install, ACPICPUThrottle states it doesn't work on newer versions...and my being 10.4.6 that would fall into the "newer" category...so i dunno what to do with that.

2. I can't get the clock in the top right to stay....I click to set it to on...but when I leave that screen and go back it is disabled(unchecked).

3. Last problem is that I can't view the "About this Mac" option under the apple menu. It goes to a blank blue screen for a minute and then it restarts finder like I just rebooted(kinda like when explorer.exe crashes in windows)

I tried to search the wiki and the forums for answers to these questions but I couldn't find any.

Any help would be much appreciated....

Btw I have a

HP DV1520US Dual Boot with Acronis Disk Director

WinXP Sp2 and MacOSx Jas 10.4.6

Intel Pentium M 735a 1.73 Ghz

Intel GMA 900(works beautifally with max resolution I can even play divx smoothly)

512 Ram 333Mhz

DVD +/- RW(works fine too!)

Intel 2200b/g Wireless(doesn't work but I have a ethernet bridge anyways)

Media card reader(never used it...don't even own a mem card to test with)

USB(yet to be tested)

Built in ethernet(works without a hitch)

Conexant Ac97 Sound(works like a champ using itunes right now)

Ok I think I found out the reason for all three of my problems...I opened up console and BOOM just scrolling lines of SystemUI and MDS(Spotlight) crashing.....

this would be the reason why the clock and about this mac option don't work

and both those constantly crashing and reopening all while logging it would definately be the reason why my cpu is at max all the time.....

now has anyone have any idea how I can get systemui and mds working??

  • 3 months later...

I seem to be having the same problem you have with the CPU, About the MAC and Spotlight..

I opened console, and like you there are errors and errors.. Ive tried re-installing OS X, and the same thing happens :construction: Im getting worried about my fan continuously running

Oh and btw, my sound doesnt seem to work, wen i reboot into OSX, i get to AC97 System failures... Do you know any fix to that?

in all honesty....I just reinstalled it a few times...also might wanna make sure your Install DVD isn't corrupted..

I used 10.4.6, after I tried installing and failed a few times I reopened the torrent I got it from and my ISO was only 99.2% complete...so I just finished downloading and reburned at 2x and reinstalled. That seemed to fix the problem. As for sound, mine worked off the bat, I didn't have to do anything.

I never tried the 10.4.7 DVD so I don't know how it would do...I used the JaS 10.4.6 ISO.
