Parallels 5 (on hackintosh) with Mac OS X Server guest

I've been running a hackintosh for months to handle some server tasks. Within the hackintosh, I've been using VMWare 3 to run Windows AND Mac OS X Server clients.

No problems, other than VMWare performance seems to be far below with what I can get from Parallels, and Parallels handles some home automation hardware (USB) waaay smoother than VMWare.

I purchased a copy of Parallels, provisioned a Mac OS X Server client on my iMac and moved it to the hackintosh. It won't boot. This is what I get:

"Mac OS virtual machines can run only on computers having Mac OS X Leopard (version 10.5.1 or higher) or Mac OS X Tiger (version 10.4.11 or higher) installed"

The hackintosh is an i7 machine w/ the vanilla kernel, chameleon, and no other problems to report. The thing just works. I even upgraded to 10.6.4 with no issue other than replacing the sleepenabler.kext:

Darwin XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX 10.4.0 Darwin Kernel Version 10.4.0: Fri Apr 23 18:27:12 PDT 2010; root:xnu-1504.7.4~1/RELEASE_X86_64 x86_64

(This happens in 32 bit mode as well, BTW).

I'd greatly appreciate any suggestions.

I didn't mention this, but Windows guest OSes work just fine.

Thanks!

same problem here... determined to crack it -

Got SL Server to run on Win7 with Vmware Workstation 7.1 but yet to find a working solution for my Hack running Parallels 5 and Vmware Fusion 3.

Suspect it may be because I am running OS X Leopard only - but maybe not. Can run a Windows 7 VM in XP?
