Installed from 10.6.3 Universal, updated to 10.6.4 with update tool. First sleep / wake cycle is fine; with the one odd symptom of CPU fan running faster than normal after resume. Second sleep is OK, wake looks like it will be OK, desktop comes back up for one second then PC does immediate hard shutdown/lockup. Pressing the power button at this point causes the lights and CPU fan to come on for about one second, then the system immediately shuts back off.

The first time this happened I freaked a little thinking I had some fried something... even though I knew that was unlikely. It turns out I must pull the power cord AND the battery for a few seconds, then the PC will boot again.

Using/not using SleepEnabler.kext and NullCPUManagement.kext make no difference.

I wondered if the DSDT signaling for the laptop lid switch was screwy and tried an alternate DSDT LID patch, no help either. The lid switch may not be tied to anything in the system, as closing the lid does not induce sleep.

System.log and Kernel.log don't seem to have any meaningful messages. They basically appear to indicate Sleep/Wake went OK.

After quite a bit of searching and reading, I am running out of ideas. Can anyone offer some ideas on how I can collect better info from the system to troubleshoot this? So far I haven't seen any other posts with this specific problem.

Thanks
