join join
Hello, Tried to install Snow Leopard retail on a HP Compaq dc5850 desktop. So far, I figured out I needed : the modbin test7 kernel NullCPUManagement FakeSMC PlatformUUID So I burnt and burnt a happy stack of boot CDs with BootCDMaker but there's always a "Still Waiting for Root Device" message at the end. I think this is related to the fact I have to find kexts in order to make SATA work with this desktop. It seems the southbridge is SB700, so I loaded the SB700 kexts and it did not work. I find this very logical : these kexts were built for Leopard ! As far as I could read the one who did them used a well-known method for the SB600 but adapted it for SB700. This method consisted of rebuilding a kext using the sources and changing some values. That's okay, but now with Snow, I couldn't find any info about how to make SATA work, so sadly I'm still waiting for that f***** root device too (without it, no hackintosh). Anyone has got a solution or can get me the sources and the values to change so that I can build the proper kexts ? I would be very pleased to see that rig working. Thanks everyone ! Erigz
Can't you just set your SATA controller into AHCI mode ? My SB750 works with Snow Leopard without any additional kexts.
