Hey guyz,

 

I am just new to Mac... but hv learnt quite fast... just installed it this morning.... Its workin good ethernets workin..... got the correct video drivers working like a charm....... but jus 1 problem.... THE SOUND AIN'T WORKIN.... !!! havent tried out any kext file yet cuz i guess i cant find one... i am using a compaq v3732tu... this is my sound driver for windows :

I NEED A GOOD KEXT FILE AND IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME INSTALL THIS!!! THAT WOULD BE GOOD....!! I NEED INSTRUCTIONS TOO!! :P WELL GUYS PLEASE HELP!!! :(

You may want to try the VoodooHDA.kext (available here) which enables audio for a number of built in audio devices. It worked for me with my Asus M51Sn laptop (Snow Leopard), which also has HDA audio.

 

Probably the easiest way to install a kext is to use a utility such as Kext Helper. There are tutorials around this forum for installing kexts using tools as well as doing it manually.

 

If the system throws a kernel panic ("You need to restart your computer...") after installing a kext, just boot up with the flags "-x -s", mount the system drive read/write (instructions will be on screen), and delete that kext from /System/Library/Extensions, then just reboot. The commands you'll use are the same as any *nix variant, cd and rm. Kexts are not actually files themselves but clever directories, so you'll want to add the recursive flag (rm -r).
