my system is as follows:

980x cpu

asrock extreme 3

8800gts with gtx 470 on standby ready to put in once i get everything else working

I have used ##### to install SL, then upgraded to 10.6.4, when I boot from ##### I use busratio=25

once booted everything seems to work ok except the processor says unknown in profiler, says bus speed is 100Mhz, and I have no sound.

from what I have gathered I need to do the following:

Install Chameleon RC5

patch dsdt.aml with 980x version

Install EFI bootloader or something so that I dont have to use ##### cd to start my computer every time.

I would like to keep the vanilla kernel as it seems to make things simpler and my 980x is supported by 10.6.4

anyway, If anyone can tell me if this is what i really need to do, and if so, how do I do these things, that would be great, I am stuck and could really use some advice from the great people in this forum,

Thanks in advance! and sorry for my noobish basic knoledge :(

You can download the RC5 that is compatible with the 980x from this thread

you will need to boot using the RC5 bootloader, i'm not sure what is bundled with #####, but if it is a chameleon flavour, then you should be able to just drop this file in over the top of what is there.

once that is done, you will need to patch the DSDT to bring up all 12 cores. For that, you will need someone else's help.
