Yugosaki
Ok, so I have an Asus g50vt-x5, and I'm trying to install 10.5.x on it, I bought it after seeing others have success installing osx on it... But for some reason, no matter how closely I mirror everyone elses guides, I simply cannot get it to boot. It hangs at the white apple logo and shows the spinning loading icon indefinitely. When I boot it with -v it shows "still waiting for root device" over and over again. what I've tried: -booting it with flags "cpus=1" "-v" "-x" "-f" "-s" "legacy" in every combination I can think of. pretty much invariably the same result. -I've tried distros kalyway 10.5.1, kalyway 10.5.2, iatkos 10.5.7, iPC 10.5.6. Kalyway won't even boot no matter what flags I use. iatkos and ipc will both boot and install if I use the cpus=1 flag, but give the 'still waiting for root device' error. -I've followed pretty much every even somewhat successful post Here, here, here -I tried #####, which just panics and restarts if I click anything -I tried changing my bios settings - IDE configuration > SATA operation mode in all three states ("compatible" "raid" and "enhanced") and I've turned intel VT-d on and off -I installed to a USB hard drive. All the same issues. -SOMETIMES if I have just the right options, it'll kernel panic about AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext, but I can fix it by booting the install disk, and using the terminal to do this, but after I do that it goes back to 'still waiting for root device" -I used my macbook to boot the various install disks and install to a USB hard disk, but the result is still the same. I'm at the end of my rope here and about to give up. I've followed every guide or even vague forum post of success as close as possible, but the result is always the same. Any help is appreciated.
