Sata DVD-ROM Freeze

hi, 

 

when installing or copying something from my dvd drive, at a random point the progress bar freezes and it stops to copy/install, after that point it doesn't let me reboot/shutdown, or get rid of the copy process box, other than this, everything works perfectly, my specs are in my signature, any help will be much appreciated.

 

Edit: I thought I solved it by changing the sata mode for DVD-ROM to IDE, but the problem repeated again after a few tries

 

 

Edit 2: I removed the sata drive and installed an ide DVDROM, at first it worked but then I realized that when I insert a cd, it gives a kernel panic, so I reinstalled the sata drive, I still have the same problem described above, I really could use some help here, I have no idea how to fix this.
