ajmartin12
GPU - ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4670 - 1GB CPU - Intel Core i7-720QM Processor (1.6GHz, Turbo upto 2.8GHz 6MB) Memory - 6GB 1333MHz DDR3 (1 x 2BG + 1 x 4GB) Display - 15.6" HD (1080p) HDD - 640GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive Computer: Dell Studio XPS 16 -(1645) Ok. I installed Snow Leopard Retail Disk 10.6.3 with Boot 132 on another computer because it wouldn't install on my XPS. Everything works great on the other computer, (except some minor things such as sound). I transfered the OSx10 HHD into my XPS this time using "##### - ATI.iso" Disk, typed in "busratio=12" (For my CPU) at the boot. It starts up in Mac OSx10. BUT. When it logs onto the desktop the screen goes black, yet the computer is still running with out the display. The sound works, I can hear the "Bloop" of the Sound volume going up/down and the error sound when I mash the function keys. So here the problem Summarized. I can log into Mac OSx but when it gets to the desktop the display goes black, yet the OS is still running fine. How do I fix this? :S Here is a Video of the Start Up. (Sorry for the aspect ratio and there being no sound >_> *dislikes movie maker and misses Adobe Premiere*. (coming soon) Here is a Photo. What is viewed here is what happens right between start up and black screen...what does it mean? http://i952.photobucket.com/albums/ae8/ajmartin123/lol.jpg?t=1276600660 I tried searching around the internet and the forum search, and nothing that stood out to be the issue. MaLd0n
try with arch=i386 -f -v -x install the video driver
ajmartin12
try with arch=i386 -f -v -x install the video driver I tried that and still the OS boots then goes blank when it logs onto the desktop. But this time there is now sound but the Mac eject button works. In the code the only thing which stands out is this part to me... " ... ** The volume MacOS appears to be OK. ***** FILE SYSTEM WAS MODIFIED ***** hfs: Removed 1 orphaned / unlinked files and 0 directories lanuchctl: Please covert the following to launchd: /etc/mach_init.d/chum.plist lanuchctl: Please covert the following to launchd: /etc/mach_init.d/dashboardadvisoryd.plist lanuchctl: Please covert the following to launchd: /etc/mach_init.d/pilotfish.plist Wating for DSMOS... systemShutdown false ... " Then it continues for a bit then logs onto the desktop, then blank screen. Any other advice? Also I forgot to mention my computer is 64bit with a resolution of 1920 x 1080. Would trying to connect a TV/Monitor via the HDMI port would that work? :S
lovestorm207
Then it continues for a bit then logs onto the desktop, then blank screen. Any other advice? I have just managed the same problem like you few days ago. The thing I did is that I boot into the chameleon setup usb, and I use the terminal there to delete all the ATI* kext in S/L/E. I have just stated trying hackintosh for several days, but I hope that this can help you to solve your problem.

Not sure if it helps ati coz i am using GTX 285 on a Dell T5500, and I need PciRoot=4 to fix the exact same problem.
eido
lovestorm207 is right, there is no real support for the mobility 4670, except for DisplayPort out, if you connect a displayport monitor youll see the screen again and it will fully work, to get it to work on the laptop screen you need to delete all the ATI kexts in System/Library/Extensions, however, this would mean you won't have QE working, but that is the best anyone has been able to do with that laptop so far.
