I am trying to install Snow Leopard on my laptop. I have three partitions. One with Windows XP, one with Leopard 10.5.7, and a blank guild MAC OS Journal partition for Snow Leopard. I installed IATKOS V7 on my laptop. I put in the Snow leopard retail disc. I click installed and choose to install it on a different partition from the leopard installation. About 3/4 of the way Snow Leopard says it needs to restart my PC. When the PC restarts itself it boots the Windows partition first. Any suggestions. I need to return the dis today.

well, I belive it's all about your active partitions.

if I have set my Windows partition (which is the 1. partition) as active, then it won't let me boot into my OS X on my 4. partition. it simply isn't there when I reboot just after I did my OS X installation.

in case you're a bit lost how to:

(I expect you have Win7 or Vista)

Press the Windows button + R.

write: diskpart >> list disk >> select disk # >> list partition >> select part # (the partition where your 10.6.2 is supposed to be installed on) >> active

I belive that's it. just reboot and play the DVD again.

if it won't work, then I'm sorry. but it seems like that's what causes the problem.

I only have leopard on it right now. I have a second Partition I trying to install Snow Leopard on.

hmm. i don't remember how to set the partitions in Leopard.

otherwise, you can install XP first and then take it from there. the only thing different from my "guide" is you have to press the windows button and select "Run" in the right side. after that, it's all the same - the terminal will open.
