z11111
So I'm running a SYGA TI-chipset firewire PCI card (this one, to be exact). I have iPC 10.5.6 Final installed on two PCs in my home, and I popped this card into one of them and it worked great, no problems and no kexts needed or anything. However, on my ASUS P4P8X-SE mobo with a 2.8GHz Pentium 4 (intel 865p chipset), which I have running fine normally, when I pop in the PCI card, I get a kernel panic / trap ("invalid kernel ip") with a backtrace in only "com.apple.iokit.IOFireWireFamily". I only get a kernel panic when I have the firewire PCI card plugged in It's strange cause the card works FINE on my other machine (a Gigabyte GA-8IE800 Pentium 4 running the same distro, even older than this ASUS), yet on this mobo I can't even boot into safe mode. Any ideas? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/221125-kernel-panic-from-pci-card/ Share on other sites
