  1. kernel panic from PCI card?

this is my kernel panic FireWire (OHCI) TI ID 8025 built-in now active, GUID 00133b010001003d; max speed s800. warning: invalid kernel ip, won't attempt to handle trap Please contact Voodoo (etc etc)... ... panic(cpu 0 caller 0x001A8FFD): Kernel trap at 0x00443403, type 14=page fault, registers: (numbers) Error Code: 0x00000002 Debugger called: <panic> Backtrace (CPU 0), Frame : Return Address (4 potential args on stack) 0xd5b7bb8: 0x12b08c (etc etc) ... 2. Linksys WMP54G v4.1 PCI (Ralink RT2561)

something very, VERY strange... I have this card in my dual-boot iPC 10.5.6 / Windows XP Pro SP2 setup. I don't have the drivers installed on Windows XP SP2, nor did I do ANYTHING in terms of installing kexts for 10.5.6, but the card works in osx86 this is on an old Pentium 4.
  3. So I'm running a SYGA TI-chipset firewire PCI card (this one, to be exact). I have iPC 10.5.6 Final installed on two PCs in my home, and I popped this card into one of them and it worked great, no problems and no kexts needed or anything. However, on my ASUS P4P8X-SE mobo with a 2.8GHz Pentium 4 (intel 865p chipset), which I have running fine normally, when I pop in the PCI card, I get a kernel panic / trap ("invalid kernel ip") with a backtrace in only "com.apple.iokit.IOFireWireFamily". I only get a kernel panic when I have the firewire PCI card plugged in It's strange cause the card works FINE on my other machine (a Gigabyte GA-8IE800 Pentium 4 running the same distro, even older than this ASUS), yet on this mobo I can't even boot into safe mode. Any ideas?
  4. a TI chipset card will definitely work. I have two osx86 setups and one has a SIIG 3-port card that I got for around $20USD on ebay. 2 FW800 ports and 1 FW400 port; it works great on one of my mobos, now to get it working on the other! do a few google searches and it will come up
  5. Marvell Yukon 8001 - the driver

installed and working great. thanks so much!
  6. Not much help, but this is great news to know that Pro Tools cards can run on an OSx86 machine...which is exactly what I plan on doing in the future thanks for all the info in this thread!
  7. hello, I'm running the 1.3b0 on iPC 10.5.6 (pentium 4, Creative SB Live! card) and it works very well! well, aside from one problem: When trying to use certain apps, in this case WaveBurner (comes with Logic), I cannot configure the driver from the app preferences; i can only pick "AC97 (PCM)". And of course I have no output from said program. as far as I know there is no DSP mixer still, right? any other way to fix this?
