Which setup method / distribution works for my core i7

Hello together,

I've just finished the setup for my new graphics workstation with the following config:

CPU: Intel Core i7 860 (Lynfield)

Mainboard: Gigabyte GAP55USB3

RAM: Corsair XMS3 4GB

Graphics Card: ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024MB

HD: 2x Western Digital Caviar Black (WD5001AALS) 32 MB Cache / 7200rpm / SATA 300

DVD-DL: LG GSA-H55L (ATA)

DVD-ROM: Aopen DVD1648 (ATA)

Depending on what is possible my configuration could be:

Config 1

HD 1 = Windows 7 Ultimate (64Bit)

HD 2 = Snow Leopard

Config 2

No Windows

HD 1+2 (Raid 0) = Snow Leopard

Config 3

HD 1 = Snow Leopard

HD 2 = Windows 7 Ultimate (Parallels / Boot Camp)

Now I have to get the corresponding Hackintosh Software and the right installation method. Is it possible to install from an original Snow Leopard DVD without any kernel extensions? Or do I have to use a version like iAtkos or iDeneb with a bootloader installed?

Maybe one of you know if my hardware is compatible to Snow Leopard. I could not find any information about the GA P55USB3 in the hardware database.

I read this too. But I don't know if it is just the lack of QE or if the card doesn't display anyting. It's probably just a question of time until the 5x Series is supported.

What is with the other components like the mainboard? Does 10.6.3 support USB3.0?

Does nobody know how to install Snow Leopard with my config? I can wait for the HD5770 beeing fully supported by QE... as long i can get the graphic card to display anything.

I've already tried the ##### method:

1. ##### ATI -> fail

2. ##### Supported -> fail

Same Results for 1st and 2nd try:

Result -> after inserting the Snow Leopard DVD + F5 + Enter. I got a blank screen and the fans of my system

ran with full power.

Does anyone of you have a solution for this?

P.S. I wanted to try the Kakewalk method but in the zip file I've downloaded the kakewalk.iso is missing. Just the kakewalk_legacy.iso is in there which is known to not working with P55.

yea i cant find the iso but i managed to get it running. if you can boot to your mac with the boot disc you can install kakewalk bootloader in your mac. i had to do that and it seemed to work but i dont like all the text etc at the start up. i would like to use ##### but it crashes when booting to mac from the hard drive

OK. Now that Apple supports my ATI Radeon HD5770 I want to install the Snow Leopard on my i7. I've downloaded the new chameleon boot dvd which is supporting my HD5770 and the new iBeast version.

I've set my BIOS to the settings tonymac mentioned in his guide.

I'am using a copy of an orignial OSX Snow Leopard DVD.

Problem #1

After booting from the Snow Leopard DVD withod any options (-v -x ....) the installation hangs at the apple logo.

While booting with -v -x I've got the message Installation not possible or something like that (while in graphic mode) here I just can do a restart. If I'am doing nothing the systems is shutting down after a few seconds by itselve.

The only option that worked for me is -v -x -s (to boot in single user mode). But I don't know what do do in single-user mode :)

I've already changed the jumper settings of my IDE DVD-ROM. But nothing changed.

I suppose that the install fails because I'am using a IDE DVD-ROM instead of a SATA one or my System config does not work with this installation DVD or Method.

I would really appreciate your help.

Thanks in advance Kamephis
