insanely2010
i compared my real Imac (2 years ago') score: 166 with my virtual OSX on a Amd Phenom 2 545 (3600Mhz) chipset Amd 790, with VBox 3.2.0(win) and 2 cores for the VM RESULTS: removing flags on "Disk" and "Graphical Things" my virtual-score is 210-229 (it change reloading Virtual Machine) can anyone share his scores with a small description of Host machine? i would to know if a Virtualized Mac can be replace a Real Mac (for developing stuff.. not gaming) [EDIT] Added a benchmark using a Phenom2 550 (3.88Ghz and Vmware Player 3.1), best score is 253 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/219119-virtualized-osx-benchmark/ Share on other sites
leo1984
It's a very interesting post, I have been wondering about it since my first virtualization! as soon as i can i'll post my benchmark with the system in sign and with a core 2 duo running SL 10.6.3. leo1984
My benchmarck with the system in sign running win7 and SL 10.6.3 as guest 261 (same your options with Xbench). VM with 4 cores and 2 Gb of Ram. virtual machine is Virtualbox 3.2.0 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/219119-virtualized-osx-benchmark/#findComment-1478617 Share on other sites

leo1984
Standard CPU Clock ( 2.66 ) ?good! yes, the cpu isn't overclocked, and i set only 4 of 8 possible cores. captainjon
Hi, I just installed SL on VirtualBox 3.2 using empire EFI according to this page http://www.sysprobs.com/install-mac-snow-l...-apple-intel-pc Everything is working (except sound, next on list to do), but it is really slow. I ran Xbench to check and my score is 21.92, CPU is 79.94. I am running a Q6600 stock, with 1Gb of ram given to OSX, on Windows 7 32-bit. My OSX has the latest updates, as does windows. VB settings are standard, but with 2 cpus to try and speed it up. Any ideas????? thanks, Jon Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/219119-virtualized-osx-benchmark/#findComment-1481222 Share on other sites

leo1984
I've updated to VB 3.2.4. strangely using 4 core now my benchmark has decreased to 230 from 260. using 8 cores instead of 4 xbench signs 240, with other options unchanged and VB 3.2.4... did Sun decrease the quality of the virtual machine in release 3.2.4? insanely2010
i've updated to 10.6.3 (i read on web that this version is moderately slowly compared to 10.6.2) and now on 3.2.4 . my best score at 3.72 ghz is: 204-219 (in some rare cases 230) i'm waiting for next release of Vbox... Everything is working (except sound, next on list to do), but it is really slow. I ran Xbench tocheck and my score is 21.92, CPU is 79.94. I am running a Q6600 stock, with 1Gb of ram given to look at windows processes on task manager... i think some one are using a lot of CPU degrading VM performances... I've updated to VB 3.2.4. strangely using 4 core now my benchmark has decreased to 230 from 260. Have you tried to remove PAE/NX flag? (on my AMD this is a way to increase VM performances) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/219119-virtualized-osx-benchmark/#findComment-1484955 Share on other sites
leo1984
Have you tried to remove PAE/NX flag? (on my AMD this is a way to increase VM performances) No, i don't, i'll post results of it as soon as possible. I tested SL 10.6.3 on a core 2 duo 6400 (2.13Ghz) and 1Gb (Pc got 2Gb in total) of RAM given to the VM. the average result is 25!?!?! I never past 30 with Xbench..... I checked, nothing is running on the win XP host. and the VM is quite unusable, too slow. I think 1 Gb of RAM is too less for Snow Leopard. insanely2010
I think 1 Gb of RAM is too less for Snow Leopard. i'm using latest xcode on a 896 megabytes VM with 10.6.3 (10.6.3.1) and speed is normal... today i've do a test on a 2007 MacMini (osx upgraded to 10.6.3) and xbench score is 141 if i remember well the CPU is a Core 2 Duo... and the Ram is "only" 1 Gbyte this sunday i'll try to upgrade my Virtual-Osx to 10.6.4-Beta for more benchmarks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/219119-virtualized-osx-benchmark/#findComment-1486275 Share on other sites
