nikkpap
[Guide] How to install Retail-Vanilla SnowLeo to Acer Aspire 6920G with Drivers. from nikkpap (n00b) What you will need? - Enthusiasm - Patience - Love & Passion for your Hobby (Hackindosh) - Empire EFI CD (1.085 works fine) - Snow Leopard (from your girlfriends mac, torrents, warez, or better buy one from an Apple store to help AppleSEEDs getting better ) - Extra Usb KeyBoard & Mouse. - an Extra USB HDD to make Tests Before you open your Lappy and put a new 500GB 7200RPM like... - My Driver Collection for this Lappy. (and all the Gem-Family) 1) Start your Lappy and put EmpireEFI_V1085_R2 boot cd. When the screen "see" [eject and press F5] do it, Then put your SnowLeo dvd wait until the light of your dvdrom stops Then press F5, now you can boot the SnowLeo, go to the icon Mac Os Install and press ENTER. Then you will see some lines over the screen and one prompt to "says [press any key] press ENTER again. wait.......and take a beer... or what ever. 2) You will see the language selection menu, choose yours.. Do the rest. Don't forget to go to disk utility and format your disk GUID. When the installation begin you will probably face two things like me, - First the installation stuck in 25 minutes don't worry if your Hdd light flashes leave it and go for a coffee, it will make about (forty minutes to an hour for sure.) - Second the installation finish and didn't prompt me for a restart, i faced a yellow failed triagon icon. don't worry it works. (i made a lot a lot installations before this post). Solution - Opinions - In first situation just press the power button to force close the lappie and boot with EmpireEFI_V1085_R2 - In second situation just follow the prompt and again boot with EmpireEFI_V1085_R2. 3) In both situations after you boot with your EmpireEFI_V1085_R2 cd and you will see the [F5 prompt screen] and the [name of your snowleo partition]. choose the icon with the [name of your snowleo partition] and hit ENTER to boot. 4) Finish the boring information and welcome screens. 5) Download Driver Pack and install the myHack_Installer_1.0.1, select Custom then tick : com.apple.plist GraphicsEnabler EvOreboot IONetworking LegacyAppleRTC ( we need this kext till someone make the perfect dsdt.aml file and give it to me too. i can't make work ) NullCPUPowerManagemt SleepEnabler (till the perfect dsdt.aml is done i don't think the "sleep" function will work in this Lappy…) Then copy the content of the Driver Pack and paste it into "System/Library/Extensions" path and in "Extra" [replace ALL] The Last think is to use Kext Utility… let it Finish and Reboot (it probably give you a kernel panic don't worry just turn off the lappy from the Power Button (hold 4 sec the power key) remove the power AC plug and and the Battery, hold the Power Button pressed for 20 sec to empty all the power from the mobo. (i think it has to be the voodoobattery.kext), but its ok… Well done you install succesfully the Snow Leopard. And the magic gift is.... the "internal mic WORKS like a charm … by nikkpap" The only think you need its to take a "broadloom bcm4321 Airport native" minipci express. I toke one from e-bay for 18 usd …. but you have to put it in the other pci -e slot cause the first one it's opens with the drivers from the onboard wifi button so real mac's they don't have this option …(if anyone know how to use the primary minipci express slot just post it, i read somewhere that you can cover the 20th pin in the card to make it play in the primary slot) Thanks you ALL. About me: "My first Project was back to 2007-08 and it was with an ASUS DH Deluxe and Intel4core 3,3 GHz over-clocked, 4GB 800 RAM Kingston Hype X, Nvidia 8600GT 512MB, SoundBlaster Extigy, HDD x2 WesterDigital 500 GB Monitor LG Wide 21" x2, and Webcam Logitech Skype Edition. Everything was working smooth and nice with Leo. Now after 3 years i make this Project with the future in front for a success to the Intel D94DFX2 mobo (i only can success with Leo) wait for my new post thanks again. Most of the essential stuff is was taken care "by myHack Installer" which installs Chameleon (boot loader) and as well as other kexts (drivers). P.S. I don't make the hacks-drivers-bootloaders, i only read and find them in the web. Thanks again all the Gurus and Developers. ********** Driver Pack ********** http://rapidshare.com/files/389177760/Driv...20G_SnowLeo.zip Try Ubuntu Rock's Better .... !!! nikkpap Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/218899-guide-how-to-install-retail-vanilla-snowleo-to-acer-aspire-6920g-with-drivers-from-nikkpap-n00b/ Share on other sites
CRW
Hi - thanks for the guide For some reason however, my 6920G has a kernel panic caused by the graphics kext atiradeon2000.kext it will boot into safe without it, but no way will it boot with it. (I have built quite a few hacks in the past and this one has me stumped) cheers, Clive Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/218899-guide-how-to-install-retail-vanilla-snowleo-to-acer-aspire-6920g-with-drivers-from-nikkpap-n00b/#findComment-1544364 Share on other sites
