I've had this problem for quite a while now. It hasn't bothered me too much, because I rarely shutdown / reboot my computer. However, I recently decided to do a fresh install and re-arrange some partitions / drives in my system. I had hoped this would fix the problem, but it hasn't.

Basically, what happened previous to re-install was I would boot the computer, and it would load to the login screen fine. At this point I would have to wait between 5-10 mins for the keyboard and mouse to become usable. They both were 100% unresponsive. After a while, they would just start working. It was this way in 10.6.0, and same when I recently upgraded to 6.3.

After re installing 10.6.0, a similar situation presented itself, but not at first boot. The first boot when fine, and only when I rebooted did it surface. The mouse cursor would move, but wouldn't push any input to the GUI. The keyboard remains unresponsive. I upgraded to 10.6.3, and have the same situation.

However, I still have a 10.5.(I think .2) install that this situation doesn't present itself. That was a retail install too, however doesn't make use of /Extra/Extensions/.

My mouse is a OCZ USB Laser mouse, and the keyboard is a USB Saitek Eclipse.

Wow do I feel silly. After clicking post, I looked at my case. I remembered that my sister in law broke my DVD drive. (She's 4). Anyhow, I unplugged it power and sata, and booted back up. And the problem disappeared.

I hope, this is my first boot and it was fine.
