So I've searched, and searched, and searched. I can find info on the i3, and C3D 1564's, but nothing on the following... (which seem to match very close to a MB)

Dell Inspiron i1564

15.6" HiDef WLED at 1366x768

Core i5-430M (2 core, 4 thread) processor at 2.26Ghz (Turbo to 2.53Ghz)

4GB DDR3 Dual Channel at 1066 RAM

500GB 5400RPM HDD

8X CD/DVD Burner (Dual Layer DVD+/-R Drive)

Intel X4500 HD Graphics

RealTek HD Sound w/ "SRS Premium Sound" (what ever that is)

so my question is: WHAT version of OSx86 should I download? What options should I use?

NONE of the 1564 threads I have found, have been recent (2009 etc) and none have an i5 Arrondale...

TIA

Maybe you are the first here trying to install osx on this machines... YOu will be lucky if you find someone which exacly the the same model.

Anyway, why don't you just try one of the method ? As far as I know, the i5 is now supported by the 10.4 kernel. First, buy the OSX DVD, then find a boot CD (for exemple #####, see Tonymacs forum). And then you can install OSX from the retail DVD. If it does not work, find why or try another method.

I did that for my Dell Latitude E6410, on an external usb disk. I got some problems of course, but found answers on the forum. Now OS X 10.6.4 with the 10.4 kernel is running very well on my laptop, what a pleasure :-)
