reaLity2
Hi, after i gave up trying to get my ati hd3870 to run on snow leopard i decided to buy a nvidia card. But now i am standing on the foot of the mountain: Which card is the best for a small budget (100-200€) who runs 100% smoothly. With QE, with Multi-Monitor Support. Thank you! everdone
I have had my best luck with the 9500GT cards, 512 meg or 1gb. I now buy ones without HDMI connectors as those give uneven results. Dual DVI or VGA/DVI work well. Use an EFI string in com.apple.boot.plist or GraphicsEnabler=Yes (don't try to use both at the same time). The EFI string will work with most any bootloader, GraphicsEnabler does not work well with some bootloaders. mg100796
I have NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 1GB. It works amazingly with SL, and extremely smooth. It's also fairly cheap, "high-end" card. To get it to run all you have to do is create GFX string for it, which is a piece of cake! Freaky Chokra
Nvidia 9800GT 512 MB or 1GB Check my signature. Several others have this baby running with simple DSDT insertion. OR EFI strings. OR GraphicsEnabler=Yes in com.apple.Boot.plist OR simple KExt editing of NVDANV50HAL.kext and NVDAResman.kext With all the four ways, it works flawlessly OOTB. Initially without QE/CI. but then, the Benchmarks prove it's worth every penny!
