drixz
Hey all, I'm running a problem after installing netkas's 10.6.3 exotic patch (for QE/CI) pkg for ATI cards + EVOEnabler.kext for 4830, which would then result a glitched screen while booting into 10.6.3. I reverted back to netkas's 10.6.2 exotic package and of course there is no QE/CI enhancements =/ Did some search on google and some other forums but was unsuccessful to find a solution. Perhaps someone could shed some light on this matter please? That would be greatly appreciated. drixz
I just fixed my own problem! Coming back from work today with netkas's QE CI exotic package 10.6.2 installed on Hackintosh, I decided to give QE CI package 10.6.3 a try and see how things work. I safe boot into 10.6.3 and installed netkas QE CI exotic package 10.6.3 then reboot and... KA CHING! Full QE CI enhancements with ripple effect on dashboard! So to summarise the steps that I've taken to enable QE CI for Radeon HD 4830: 4830 EvoEnabler.kext via kext helper b7 > reboot > QE_CI_Exotic patch 10.6.2.pkg > reboot > QE_CI_Exotic patch 10.6.3.pkg Now time to get my sound work.... Gaussia
MaLd0n - thanks for that post, I'm having the same problem as 214231d (same card as well) even after trying your steps. I've tried both LegacyATI4800Controller.kext (the one you posted) and the ATT4800Controller.kext from netkas' "QE_CI exotic cards patch for 10.6.3" with no change. I've found I get a black screen (as if the monitor had been unplugged) when I modify ATINDRV.kext. If I browse inside of it, to Contents > PlugIns, and remove ATY_Motmot.kext from inside, I reboot to the black screen issue. If I leave it in there, I boot up normally but still stuck at 1024x768. I'm wondering if the OP or someone else here could host a copy of EVOEnabler.kext that was customized for the 4830. It seems to be helping people get the card working in Snow Leopard, but it's been removed from the original hosting site. Edit: I suddenly realized this is my first post on these forums. I'm a long-time lurker, and can usually find what I need by searching. MaLd0n
I've found I get a black screen (as if the monitor had been unplugged) Example my monitor is the first dvi and I put the adapter in the second dvi (just plug the adapter, nothing else) only bingo Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/217615-radeon-hd-4830-issue-heavy-glitch-on-screen/#findComment-1510526 Share on other sites
Gaussia
Yep, I hear ya. The 4830 has 1 DVI, 1 VGA, and 1 HDMI though. I tried plugging something into the VGA, but no luck. I can't get a video signal from any of the 3 outputs when it blacks out like that. Did like you described in the next post, everything went well until installing 10.6.3 patch and then i got heavy glitch when boot got to GUI. Can't do anything there, not even in safe mode. Newbie question probably, but please enlighten me how I can avoid full reinstall of SL?
