Guest jacobgeek
"The computer was never the problem. The companies strategy was. Apple saw itself as a hardware company; in order to protect our hardware profits, we didn't license our operating system. We had the most beautiful operating system, but to get it you had to buy our hardware at twice the price. That was a mistake. What we should of done was calculate an appropriate price to license the operating system. We were also naive to think that the best technology would prevail. It often doesn't." Apple Co-Founder, Steve Wozniak He says that it was a bad decision to not sell the system to put on any computer. OSx86 has it's limits but it does solve his problem. Freaky Chokra
Finally, someone came to their senses. LET US ALL HOPE..... that Apple quits thinking stupidly and does some real world marketing and business decisions. Even if it costs us people some money. I would gladly pay for ten (reasonably priced) licenses, just to use it on ONE computer. Currently it is at $35-$37, right. Unlike Since, Windows Vista and now 7, versions like: 32 bit and 64bit. Home Basic Home Premuim Business Basic Business Premuim Ultimate What the heck is that? And the Windows 7 Ultimate x64 bit version costs like somewhere around $500 upwards... Yech! That is double the cost of building a Basic Rig. And, the OS is a nuisance. What a load of bull. will1384
it is at $35-$37, right No that's an upgrade price, it can be installed without upgrading however, but its intended as an upgrade only, the Mac Box Set is the full version, it's around $130+ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/217488-osx86-the-solution-to-steve-wozniaks-quote/#findComment-1461906 Share on other sites

Ya, I understand... Just that the minimal can be installed without having the full version makes every penny of it worth, right? And, The Apple Box Set (I think) includes the iLife and other set of Apps too! So given that, think $130 to about $500 for Windows 7 Ultimate version. That Windows version for a gamer is a necessary requirement. For an image/video/graphics artist or any media artist/professional, Mac OS X (64bit capable) that can address more than 3GB of RAM and give awesome stability and performance, at only the upgrade pack price ($35), or say even the Full Pack Price of $130 is still cheaper than WinBlows! That's the way I look at it. But Thanks for the update to me though. I'd not known the current (recent) price of the Full Box Set. will1384
When Windows 7 first came out, I got the family pack, that had 3 upgrade copies of "Windows 7 Home Premium" for $150, and as of now "Windows 7 Home Premium" costs around $80 to $100 OEM, if you look around, and that's all you would need for games or anything else. Windows 7 Ultimate is a waste of money Here is a breakdown by Microsoft Compare editions I built a low end gaming PC last year that had Motherboard = GA-G31M-ES2L CPU = INTEL E5300 Memory = 2 x 1GB DDR2 800 Hard Drive 1 = Seagate 320GB SATAII 16MB 7200RPM Hard Drive 2 = 30GB - Linux OS & Windows Fresh Install Backup DVD Drive = Pioneer DVR-115D Video Card = ATI HD 4850 512M, MSI R4850-512M OC Power Supply = Antec Earthwatts EA-500 500W OS = Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, Ubuntu 9.04 Works fine, but yea it goes unused now, my girlfriend got us a Wii and we have been playing it instead LOL Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/217488-osx86-the-solution-to-steve-wozniaks-quote/#findComment-1463595 Share on other sites
