rancormac
So, few days before completing my masters project, I came to realize my hard drive SMART status failed. I cannot repair it, and Disk utility advised me to backup and replace. I have a new drive coming ASAP. But, question regarding the procedures to replace it out... as it is my main system drive, and has chameleon on it (with the Extra folder). I am not worried about transferring data, thats simple. But, is there an easy way to do the system stuff? Can I literally copy over the /Library, /System, .boot, /Extras, like, literally clone the drive, swap it out, and have it work? Im a bit rusty on the hackintosh scene (I am running 10.6.2 though)... If i CAN copy stuff over, do I need to edit any disk locations anywhere? ie point to /dev/rdisk0s1 instead of /dev/rdisk1s1 or something? Any ideas on the easiest way to do this? Or am I stuck, and need to just re-install 10.6 from scratch and start all over, then transfer data? Thanks all.
Beerkex'd
Use Carbon Copy Cloner. You need to install Chameleon to the new drive after cloning.
