wouter11
Hello all! Ive just downloaded snow leopard 10.6 and everything is working fine except my videocard! These are my specs: 4 GB DDR2 P5W DH Deluxe HD3850 And the problem is my videocard is running fine in safemode! I can do everything in there, but i would like to boot in normal mode because my sound is working also then, and then i can make it dual boot. So is there any fix any kext file going around with a fix? Or how long do i need to wait for a fix? Or aint there gonna be a fix? Well thanks in advance..! Something else i found in my about this mac is this: ATI Radeon HD 4890: Chipset Model: ATI Radeon HD 4890 Type: GPU Bus: PCIe Slot: Slot-1 PCIe Lane Width: x16 VRAM (Total): 256 MB Vendor: ATI (0x1002) Device ID: 0x9505 Revision ID: 0x0000 ROM Revision: 113-B7710C-176 EFI Driver Version: 01.00.318 Displays: Display: Resolution: 1024 x 768 Pixel Depth: 32-Bit Color (ARGB8888) Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Display Connector: Greets wouter
Terminus119
I was in the same boat with my HD3850, but after removing all the ATI kexts from /system/library/extensions I can at least boot without using safe mode without a kernel panic. Of course hardware acceleration is not working, and my resolution is limited to 1400x1050... so it aint perfect. I haven't found anything replacement kexts that work yet in Snow Leopard, and from what I gather the HD3850 is not supported very well since apple only uses the HD3870. So a fix might not be forthcoming... Let me know if you figure it out, I'll keep KPing myself trying to get it work too.
